Sophie Society is a U.S.based Amazon advertising agency specializing in performance-driven PPC (pay-per-click) management for e-commerce brands. Founded in 2018 by Chris Rawlings, a former physicist turned Amazon entrepreneur, the company emphasizes a scientific, data-backed approach to scaling brands on Amazon. The name "Sophie" derives from the Greek word for wisdom, reflecting their commitment to evidence-based strategies over generic industry advice. Also, Sophie Society hosts the profitable PPC Challenge and various workshops. We have the privilege of being thought leaders in this space because of the number and diversity of the accounts we manage. All of our insights come directly from our team and their hands-on experience. That’s why we’re able to offer premium workshops for Amazon sellers—so they can learn, grow, and thrive on their Amazon journey.

We used Sophie Society to manage our Amazon advertising for several months and unfortunately didn’t have a good experience.
We signed up expecting a proactive, expert-led service that would take a lot of the management off our hands. In reality, we found ourselves having to chase things, flag mistakes and question the quality of some of the work being delivered.
More importantly, the financial performance became unsustainable for our small business. Despite paying a significant monthly management fee, we ended up thousands of pounds down during the period and eventually decided we needed to take control of the advertising back internally.
We raised our concerns directly with the company and, although some of the issues were acknowledged, we weren’t satisfied with how they were ultimately resolved.
We gave the service a fair opportunity, but our experience didn’t match what we we had been sold and we chose not to continue beyond the initial term.
Based on our experience, we couldn’t recommend them.

Lawrence, thank you for taking the time to share this. You brought us in so the advertising would be one less thing to manage, and I understand how frustrating it is when it does not feel that way. Here at Sophie we are a group of entrepreneurs ourselves and I know how that spend weighs on small businesses.
I would like to make this right. If you decide to bring the account back to us, I will apply a discount to your management fee, and our creative team will build a new main image to A/B test against your current one, aimed at lifting your conversion rate. You can reach me directly at [email protected] whenever it suits you.

Sold as a strategic growth partnership, delivered as basic PPC restructuring
I joined Sophie Society after watching Chris Rawlings’ content and reading many positive reviews. Those reviews and the polished sales content strongly influenced my decision.
My experience was very different from the impression created before I signed up.
This was not sold to me as basic PPC campaign management. In calls and pre-sale emails, the service was presented as a broader Amazon PPC Partner Programme: full-funnel ownership, strategic growth support, “win-win” alignment, fast scaling, ranking/profit focus, feedback on pricing, creatives and reviews, and access to internal SOPs, playbooks, best practices and dashboard/platform resources.
Those wider elements were a major reason I joined.
After signing up, they did not materialise.
The dashboard/platform and resources were not a minor extra or something I misunderstood. They were specifically referenced before and immediately after I joined. I asked about access shortly after signing up and was told there was a delay with the upgraded dashboard and that I would be kept posted. Nothing meaningful was ever provided. Later, when I asked for the practical operating guidance and methodology needed to manage the restructured account, this was effectively reframed as internal know-how or training outside scope.
That is the core issue for me: I was sold a broad strategic partnership with resources, transparency and support, but what I actually received was much narrower.
Following their onboarding and analysis, I received no meaningful structured feedback on the wider conversion elements they had used to justify the service — such as image improvements, listing improvements, creative testing, pricing, reviews or CVR. The pitch was effectively that this deeper strategic work would be done for me. In practice, I saw very little beyond PPC restructuring and campaign management.
The performance side was also disappointing. I was assured that accounts like mine could scale very fast because of the product, reviews and historical data. Instead, they did not scale the account profitably in any meaningful way from my perspective. Worse, when I raised that I had funds available to buy more inventory, I was advised that stock was sufficient. That proved wrong. Demand was underestimated, stock was depleted, and in my view the situation was not controlled properly.
Their commission model was also a concern. The service was repeatedly framed as “win-win”, but I felt the incentives were more aligned with PPC-attributed revenue than with my actual bottom-line outcome, stock position, or long-term brand health.
In hindsight, I placed too much trust in the YouTube authority-building, case studies, review profile and “apply to join” positioning. My advice to anyone considering Sophie Society is simple: get every promised deliverable written clearly into the contract before paying.
I would also strongly recommend interviewing the actual person who will manage your account before signing — separately from the sales process and with the same seriousness as hiring an employee. Do not judge the service only from the YouTube content, founder reputation, sales call, or polished case studies. By that point, you may already be inside a well-designed sales funnel. Step back and assess the actual account manager against your own standards: their experience with your category, their PPC judgement, how they make decisions, how often they review accounts, what they will personally control, how they handle stock constraints, how they report results, and whether they can clearly explain the strategy without hiding behind vague “internal methodology” language.
Specifically ask for written confirmation of anything they promise during a call, like dashboard access, SOPs, playbooks, reporting, creative/listing review, handover obligations, inventory/stock accountability, and what “strategic partner” actually means in practice.
Based on my experience, I would not use them again.

Viresh, thank you for taking the time to share this. You wanted to understand what was happening inside your account, not only have it run. I understand how frustrating it is to finish an engagement without that. Here at Sophie we are a group of entrepreneurs ourselves, and I know how much it matters to understand the decisions behind your own business.
I would like to make this right. I have reached out to you directly with something our team will put together for you. You can reach me at [email protected] whenever it suits you.

Avoid. Big promises, poor delivery, and it nearly cost us our business
We're a small business, and hiring Sophie Society is one of the worst decisions we've made. It nearly put us out of business.
We got in touch with them in to take Amazon PPC off our plate and we were blown away with what they promised in our first meeting. However, almost everything we were promised either arrived late, arrived wrong, or never arrived at all.
Before signing, we were sold a vision of doubling our sales without increasing ad spend, with "hundreds of A/B tests" on creatives and copy, AI videos included in the deal, and proper forecasts and targets within a couple of weeks. None of that happened as promised. Within the first week of having our money we had to chase them for the reports and targets they promised. Two months in, we hadn't seen a single A/B test or result. The AI videos we were sold were later brushed off as a "gesture," and after chasing them repeatedly, what we got was unusable. The last one was 12 seconds of nothing.
The work itself was careless. Their first report was full of wrong and contradictory data, which we had to find ourselves. The executive summary we'd agreed on was missing. Worst of all, we found a live ad running with the logo of a completely different brand of ours. An agency charging premium fees should never let that go live, and it definitely shouldn't be the client who catches it. Deadlines were missed, promised reviews didn't turn up, and every step felt like a fight to get what we were paying for.
Meanwhile, our ad spend shot up, our sales barely moved, and products that had been profitable started losing money, all before their hefty monthly fee.
When we raised all this, they admitted several of the failures but refused any refund. Their "solution" was a discount on future months, which only works if you keep paying the agency that let you down.
Despite paying for the full 3 months, we decided to take over our account again before the 3 month period was over.
If you're a small business, stay away. Despite admitting fault and accepting it wasn't good enough, we weren't offered a penny back. We learned the hard way.

Connor, thank you for writing this out in full. When a small business brings in an agency, it is trusting that what was discussed at the start is what shows up week to week. I understand how frustrating it was to feel that gap while the account was also costing you money and I want to make that right.
I want to put something concrete on the table for your brand. If you choose to work with us again, I will discount your management fee, and our creative team will design a new main image to A/B test against your current one, so more of your traffic turns into sales. Content is so important and I am sorry that did not feel like a priority for you. You can reach me directly at [email protected] at your convenience.

Don’t fall for their fancy…
Don’t fall for their fancy advertisements or fake numbers they show to attract, they are just marketing skills. If you are already selling, then avoid them at all cost as there is no magic with them. Focusing only on PPC is not helpful, I learned an expensive lesson.

Hi Srujana,
Thank you for the honest feedback. We take every review seriously, and want to give some context alongside a concrete offer.
Durable growth on Amazon is never about ads alone, and you are right to call that out. When a listing's organic momentum softens, spending more on PPC is not the fix. The real work is rebuilding the foundation underneath it: the listing, the positioning, and the conversion path. That is how a brand earns its traffic again rather than renting all of it. This is exactly the work we focus on and it is the kind of work that compounds over time.
That is also why I would like to give you a complete listing overhaul at no cost, covering new main images, secondary images, and Premium A+ content. It goes straight at the part of the account that matters most, with no strings attached.
I have reached out to you directly to move this forward, and I would welcome the chance to see it through with you.

Three months, no PPC results
Three-month PPC contract with Sophie Society with no measurable results. Performance declined, campaigns showed no meaningful impact, communication was poor, and the cost was not justified. When PPC failed, the solution was consistently external traffic rather than improving PPC execution. I would not recommend this service.

Hi Elham, thank you for taking the time to share this. We're sorry to hear about your experience, particularly the three months without measurable results and the pivot to external traffic instead of fixing PPC execution itself.
We understand how frustrating this can be, especially when you were paying for the work to land. We appreciate your feedback and have shared it with our team to help improve how we respond when PPC underperforms, with the focus staying on the ad account itself.
We've reached out to you directly with a complimentary content rebuild as our way of making this right.

Not professional on the call
Had a good intro call and the guy said he was going to send over some info on next steps and the free audit to see if they could help. Never heard back after that. Even followed up to see if he somehow forgot. Nothing back. If you didn’t think we were the right choice to work with you, I’d rather you say this on the call next time. Not professional.

Hi David, thank you for taking the time to share this. We're sorry to hear about your experience, particularly the audit and follow-up that didn't land after the call.
We understand how frustrating this is, especially when an honest "not the right fit" answer would have been preferable. We appreciate your feedback and have shared it with our team to help improve how we own intro audits and close out the call when a fit isn't there.
We've reached out to you directly to put together the audit you were originally promised.
