I booked this room with the intention of checking out the apartment before putting in an actual application, thinking I could get a feel for it before sigining away 12 months. The website made it seem like everything was set, and boy was I excited. Apparently you need a great credit score to stay in a prepaid room. They mentioned this no where, and upon "failing" the credit check, they cancelled the entire booking. I've asked about getting my $1,800 back multiple times, but no answer. At the very LEAST if you won't give me my money, then give me my room for the month of money you're stealing! I wish I listened to the reviews, this company is awful.

To Whom it may I recently booked a stay at 9 Bell Yard London. I wanted to try Sonder as we usually use Airbnb or hotels. I am very disappointed with The quality and challenges we faced using Sonder. The list is too long for a place you try for the first time hoping for a positive experience 1. Continual beeping in number 12 probably from a faulty fire alarm 2. Cracks and peeling paint in the kitchen 3. Shower head that soaked the bathroom not me 4. Non responsive app chat 5. Stuck door to outside that locked 2 sets of guests in for 10 minutes 6. Broken elevator as we arrived with 6 cases 7. Glitches in outer door and codes not working 8. Slow response time to customer needs and lack of on site quick support For the price the above list is too long- as a traveler I am well aware things got awry on occasion but this list is excessive for a first experience at Sonder. Unless you give me a good reason we will not be back which results in a loss for Sonder of a customer but a gain for us as we like to try new and innovative places to stay- and will find something else- Sonder does not meet basic comfort and ease standards.

Sonder at the Beverley Toronto- This was booked by my company for a visit to headquarters. I and the person who booked this assumed that this was a hotel, but it is some version of Airbnb mixed with welive or some sort of birding house on a very poorly managed scale. No elevator so if you are unlucky and get assigned a room on the fourth floor, good luck! No front desk, one is supposed to follow their very unclear instructions at time of booking to be Automatically sent access codes and room numbers. Case in point - after having fought via text message with their “customer care” I run into another guest who was desperately trying to find his way into the building. When I returned half an hour later he still was not checked in. Lovely when you arrive after a long journey and just want to put your head into a pillow and prepare for your job the next day! Ironing board, in room coffee, fitness center, laundry- none of which can be found. Of course also no daily housekeeping- BUT THEY DO CHARGE A CLEANING fee on top of the ridiculous rates- FOR WHAT? Lastly the room is about the size of a shoebox. There is a 32 inch monitor on the wall straight- no way to adjust an angle. Of course it also does not have TV but only apps. The bed is sideways meaning you have to sleep without a headboard and might fall off. There is one place to hang your clothes and if you have anything long then you are out of luck and they will just have crinkles on the bottom. There is a mini fridge and a waterkettle, but forget a coffeemaker or even a USB outlet. The complimentary ear plugs in the room should have also given away that there is some mysterious noise making it impossible to sleep. I don’t know what this is supposed to be but it is not a hotel though the prices are akin to a 4 star. STAY AWAY!

A 3 week stay with continued issues with the fire alarm system in the building going off at all times of the day and night plus 3 days of fire alarm testing. Sonder at City Hall Park in New York. Management has no idea how to deal with the issue. I have not been able to work out of my apartment Bad communication. An offer of $100. A complete joke !

Worst company ever I’ve had a great 2 months stay with them so I’ve booked a trip for my parent in London. Due to covid they could not come and I’ve been given a voucher. I’ve booked a trip in Amsterdam with it and but for covid reason as well I had to cancel it. I’ve been told I would receive my money back within 10 days, I’ve received nothing and after calling them 3 times finally had an answer saying they could not give me a refund because it’s a voucher (like it’s not my money in the first place …) but they can extend my voucher (like I should thank them to give me an opportunity to spend MY money) anyway only had 15 days to spend that voucher knowing that you can’t use it online but need to call them so did not get time for it. Asking for an extension now that they are not sure to be able to give me It’s the worst hotel company I had to deal with during pandemic but one of the one which made the more profit during this crisis (just google it) well no wonder when they just steal money from they customers Not to mention their rooms are completely overpriced There are so many better places than this company, keep your money. Really.

This was one of the worst experiences I have had with any company EVER! I booked a two night stay at one of the properties in Philadelphia which was nonrefundable. I received an email two days later saying that after further review my reservation had been cancelled and the decision was final. I called customer service to see what was going on. The woman said that she could not provide any details and there was no manager that I could speak with. When I pressed her, she said it looked as though it was due to repair and maintenance issues at the location. Fine, that makes sense. I went ahead and booked another Sonder property in Philadelphia. However, I noticed that the original room was reposted on all major booking websites at an increased price the very next day! This clearly rubbed me the wrong way. Were they just looking to get more money for the room? A few days before my stay, I called customer service again to make sure everything was ok for the new location I booked, because I was feeling unsettled about this company. This time I was told that my original booking was actually cancelled because they thought I was planning on having a party there. I have NO idea where they came up with that notion. I am a 40 year old mother of 3 children who was finally able to get two nights away from the kids after being quarantined with them all at home for over a year. I had planned some adult time in the city-dinner, shopping, and a show. I asked to speak with a Manager and again was told that was not possible, the decision was final, and I was being left again without a place to stay just days before my trip. After sending follow-up emails I was told that they had to abide by their policies and procedures and there were no exceptions; yet still no one would tell me what policy I was breaking. I am the ideal tenant that any business should want, so I have to think there is something else shady going on here. After asking to speak with a Manager yet again I was told flat out NO. Then they had the audacity to tell me that by booking ban would be lifted the week after my planned trip and they look forward to having me stay in the future. WHAT??? This company should be shut down. If you are reading this, please think twice before booking. I have traveled the world and have never been treated so unprofessionally in my life.

I was trying to make a reservation for my parents who are coming to visit me in the USA from Spain. My mom doesnt really know how to use computers so she asked me to do the reservation. After I paid they ask me to upload the id of the credit card holder, strange but ok I had my moms´s id scanned so I uploaded it. Then they asked for an online facial recognition test. I call customer service because obviously my mom cannot do that. They told me there is no way around it and now I have to cancel my reservation and they are going to hold my moms money for a week so she cannot make another one. This is outrageous! Never I have been asked to undergo such scrutiny when buying something only. Dont book with them! 0 flexibility or understanding.

Before booking they stated I could get a refund due to COVID, I had to cancel the booking and they said they issued a "refund coupon" for the same amount of my booking. Coupon that I was never given, told or emailed. They then said I had to book and give them a phone call so they can apply the coupon (?!!). The "coupon" had a validity of certain months, which I will not be able to use. Hence I asked for my money back and after days of waiting for their reply, they just limited to write back asking me to give them a call when making the booking so they can apply the coupon. I have replied I wanted my money back instead. Have not heard of them since. Never using Sonder again
