So, I just made my first reservation ever. It was a place in Nashville. I'm practically homeless right now. I do have a job, but housing is just outrageous. I found an apartment for 4 nights from Sonder on an app, VRBO. It was at a cheaper rate than they offer. I noticed it said no pets so I asked a member of Sonder, before booking, if I could have my cat (registered as an ESA) with me or if I had to find someone for her to stay with for the duration of my stay. I was told it was absolutely not a problem, that they accepted ESA's. I was told no questions would be asked and to enjoy my stay. So I booked. A couple of hours later they cancelled me, yes they did fully refund me, so I called them and asked them what was going on. I was told I received an email, but they could not tell me the reason for cancellation due to security reasons(which I think is BS). I hung up and checked my email. All the email gives me is, they do not accept individuals who they think will break "House Rules" or disrupt the safety of other people. I don't understand any of this. For this to be my first time ever booking something, especially when I really need it, they really made it a crap experience and I didn't even get to have my stay. Makes me wonder if my stay would've even been good in the first place.

I had a long term stay booked here and experienced a lot of issues during my trip. There was a roach infestation. We also experienced flooding in our unit, excessive false fire alarms going off at early hours in the morning from weed / cigarette smoke setting them off in other units (we had to evacuate the building) amongst several other issues. On top of all of this, they kept a $1200+ for what they’re claiming to be a security deposit. I’ve never had such an unpleasant stay with a company and should of choose a hotel or Airbnb— completely unprofessional and shady business practices. I’ve stayed with Sonder before and my previous experience was much better; they have gone downhill.

Sonder became owners of The Arcadian 1200 Beacon St., Brookline, Mass AFTER I had made reservations. I pre paid my stay serveral months before arriving for a King Size Standard Room. We only received a Queen Size substandard room. Upon checking out I let the front desk know and was promised a $50.00 credit to my credit card in 7-10 days. This company has no way to contact the hotel directly and the automated phone messages keep saying an Error occurred, therefore leaving no way to speak to a human regarding my credit that I never received 15 days later! I believe this company to be a scam operation, trying to cheat people out of money as they put through a $150 charge for incidentals. My card was to be on hold for incidentals, if I had any, WHICH WE DID NOT!! it took 72 hours to have my credit card reverse this charge.!!! Will never use a SONDER facility again.!!!! Sure wish someone would call me to address this issue, as it is impossible to get thru to them!!!!

Stay away from.this company. Made a reservation with free csncellation option for Mexico city. A day later I decided to cancel. Sonder still charged me the full amount in mexican pesos and refunded me the same amount the following day. The scam was in the conversión rate...I got $30 CAD less with the refund. Stay away please

I tried to use Sonder in New Orleans. One week before I was supposed to arrive, they sent me a confirmation for a different apartment than the one I rented. When I called, they told me the unit was being treated for termites and the operator quickly said, "you can cancel any time," which was a red flag. I looked at other places, but at that point my options were limited. Then they sent me a confirmation for a THIRD location - not nearly as nice a place and in a sketchy neighborhood. When I called again, they said the SECOND unit was being treated for termites. I canceled after that, which left me scrambling to find a place at the last minute. Clearly, as long as they could stick me somewhere in my target city they considered themselves off the hook. Read reviews of the company and visit sites like Better Business. Their customer service is terrible and their reputation is rightly very poor.

I attempted to book a second time after my reservation was canceled at the door when checking in. This week I have a second try only to have an agent assist in my booking. Took my $1100 and within an hour cancelled. I was then told I had to wait 10 days for my money and no explanation of why cancelled. As a business traveler who would have been a consistent customer. Horrible business practices and customer service is needing to speak with their “team” for any resolution. I would never recommend this company! Not going for a third experience that’s for sure.
