The Good-Less than Perfect ideal Somnee sleep device
Update 4/27/2026 7:40pm I have no problem in removing plastic cover properly. My specific problem, the small gel fell-off after 1st usage, it tends to stuck on my forehead. Although, I have not been able to manage/solve my sleep maintenance issues; I am experiencing some progress with drift-back, it seems to me somnee app does not track sleep after drift-back. Disclaimer, I am a fan of Dr Matt Walker. I like somnee technologies and transparency but it’s far from perfect from my perspective. I am using Somnee to help manage COMISA sleep maintenance. I don’t have issues to fall asleep but difficulties stay asleep and get back to sleep middle of the night. Somnee device improvement suggestions: 1 headband is too bulky, try to use slim adjustable straps 2 option to integrate with black out mask (preferably cushion for eyelashes) 3 the small gel on EEG tends to falloff easily, not sturdy design; also the 3 metal spots is causing some bruising, use smooth metal interface instead 4 headphones are good; further refinement (a) continuous play and link to sleep signals to automatically turn off (b) option to program different tone/music/podcast 5 the app interface not as user friendly as I expected

Hi Thomas, Thank you for sharing your experience. Feedback like yours is essential in helping us continually raise the bar for sleep support, so we appreciate you taking the time. We’ve passed your feedback on to our team. Stay tuned for updates coming soon! A quick note regarding the EEG — we use medical-grade hydrogel electrodes, which require a gentle touch. When removing the electrode strip from its plastic cover, we recommend firmly holding the edge of the strip and slowly peeling the plastic off, to help keep the hydrogel intact. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do for you. Sleep well tonight! Sincerely, The Somnee Team EDIT: Thank you for providing additional details, Thomas. Sorry to hear that even after carefully removing the electrode from the strip, you're still experience the gel pad falling off. If this continues to happen with multiple electrode strips, please reach back out. Great to hear that you've experienced improvements with Driftback! Regarding your sleep report question, If you take the headband off during your session, then put it back for a DriftBack session within 45 minutes, both parts of your session will be stitched together into one report. If you remove the headband for more than 45 minutes, the longer session will be recorded in your sleep report.
