We love this gate. While it does require installation into wall, it is clear/white and when retracted is barely there. It does not detract from the look of a room. For us, we take the trade off of wall installation for the convenience of retraction to nothing when not needed or guests at house. We love the soft material and ease of use - easy to set up and take down. We also love the transparency when up - you can still see through it. When locked, our baby cannot move - very safe. When not locked, he like to try to stretch it our crawl under it. We simply keep it locked. Highly recommend - you will not regret this purchase.

I love my Retract-A-Gate!. I own a pet service business and my dogs (and employees dogs) come to work. Before purchasing this gate, we were constantly having to retrieve our dogs from the well meaning clients who would let them out. I could not find a gate to fit the opening until Retract-A-Gate. Now are dogs stay safe behind the gate and we do not have to police the clients!

These gates work perfectly for our two small dogs. We had an 11 foot opening so we used a 5 foot and a 7 foot gate, one on each wall. Works perfectly.
