My husband went shopping at Waitrose Kingsthorpe on the evening of May 8 th and again after the school run May 9th.He received a parking fine from Smart Parking saying that he had stayed overnight!.We appealed believing it had been a genuine error by Smart Parking but no they are liars they stated that there were no other entry or exit times showing on the camera.I have been told that their parking wardens are paid £30 per parking fine issued- theres an incentive to lie.Every week we receive further demands written in an intimidating format threatening court action and ccj on our credit record.They add money to the fine every week - we are now up to £170 .There are other innocent people out there who have been intimidated into paying up for parking offences they havent committed ! Others like me are waiting for the day in court and seeking maximum publicity.Smart parking are behaving fraudulently by lying and intimidating innocent people to pay fines for parking offences they havent committed.Waitrose supermarket Kingsthorpe Northampton has been informed but they choose not to get involved.They are quite happy for their customers to be treated this way by a parking company who is not operating honestly.Waitrose do not own the car park but the majority of users are shopping at Waitrose

My third review. After speaking to a debt collection company yesterday regarding the incorrectly administered fine I paid the £170. Why? Because she swore down the phone and told me she didn’t care about the fact there was an appeal and I was completely terrified. After I paid, smart parking contacted me to say they fine had been cancelled. After 3 months of not responding to my messages. So once you pay, they cancel the fine but you then need to go to the small claims court. I will be doing so for harassment.

I parked here for an hour and twenty minutes on July 28th, paid for 2 hours, cash in meter, ticket on dashboard. On Sept 1st received Parking Charge Notice, supposedly issued on 24th August, To pay £100 or £60 within 28 days. I was amazed how many people had exactly the same experience. I will not be bullied. I have appealed to Smart Parking, not optimistic. A Penalty Charge Notice or PCN issued by the council or police has to be issued within 28 days, you have to pay, it is genuine. A PARKING charge notice is not a fine, it is an invoice. It is not a PCN and if nothing was put on your car at the time they have 14 days to issue it. It is out of time. If they try to enforce it I will appeal to POPLA and if that fails I will see them in court. They wait as long as possible so you are more likely to have forgotten whether you paid, or lost your ticket. They call it a PCN to make you think they have 28 days, and manipulate the dates of postage so it looks as if they are within this. Doesn't take 8 days for a letter to arrive! They threaten that you will lose the reduction to £60 if you appeal. They cannot do this. If it is under appeal, with them or POPLA or court they cannot increase the amount to £100 until they win, if they do. They are bullies. Fighting this tooth and nail. You will find me on Facebook if you had a similar experience and want to message me. I have already emailed Picton who own the site, and all retailers based there. News papers and MP will be next. They just depend on people rolling over and paying the £60 in case it goes up to £100. They need to be stopped! I eventually got this charge cancelled thanks to a letter from my MP Jake Berry and an intervention from the manager of the Anguelamone Retail Park who I had emailed (amongst others). Make some noise, if you are being treated unfairly!

I went to pick up my customer from the the farmers pub in Lancing. The sign wasn’t obvious enough on a rainy day. I appealed the PCN. Despite this they contacted debt collection despite trying to contact them about my situation. They don’t have a sophisticated phone or email service because they simply want people’s money. As a taxi driver I can’t expect my customers to walk a few streets to get to me. I had to pay debt collection £170 in the end. What sort of justice is this!!!

First up I admit I put in the wrong car registration. We'd had a couple of really tough weeks as our son slowly died from complications following an operation and I'd driven my wife's car up and down from Inverness to London 3 times. Went, in my truck, to pick up my sister in law @Inverness railway station who had dropped everything to come up and help. So used to using my wife's car I put the wrong reg in the machine. All this was explained and I sent in copies of the ticket to show that even though I put the wrong reg in I HAD PAID. The result - they didn't accept it, pay now, or appeal again and lose any quick payment discount - no doubt they ignore this too - a totally heartless organisation.

Would suggest that nobody uses this company - fraudulent way of taking substantial amounts of money from innocent people. £60 fine for a £2.50 charge which payment was lodged with my bank by their machine which subsequently failed to dispense a ticket. Parking attendant advised that it was not a problem as it was controlled by entry / exit cameras. As payment was visible in my bank I believed I was covered. Money not taken from account in timely manner so tried numerous ways to contact company only to receive automated message. Appealed parking fine with photographic banking evidence and explanation only for SMART Parking to completely ignore and reject my evidence. Considered POPLA appeal until I read reviews about corruptness of system so took my medicine and paid. Be very wary of this company as subsequently received a second parking fine (mother in hospital so used a few times over weekend) which my bank advised had been paid so waiting for that appeal to be rejected

Another one of these scamming parking companies. You park in a car park for years then bam a parking charge in the post. No signs, no warnings or anything in the car park to tell you of any changes.

Let's be candid, these companies are just scammers out to make easy money from the British public. Call them out for what they are. Scammers! We parked up at Willen Lake. We tried paying for the parking ticket using our debit card, the machine wouldn't have it. In fact, the poor lady in front of me must have spent 10 minutes trying to get the scamming machine to work. I ended up giving her 2 x 1 pound coins to feed the machine. My turn, fed the machine with 2 x £1 coins which should have covered 2 hours parking (I was there for 1.5 hours). I receive a PCN 7 weeks later. Forget trying to contact these scammers. The two numbers that exist - one must have been disconnected, the other has a message basically saying their phone system is no longer operating. I understand the need to regulate parking, and I get that if you don't pay, or overstay when notices clearly state the penalties, you get fined. But this is not the 1st time I've dealt with a machine that doesn't frickin work!! And there is no way Smart Parking are oblivious to this. They know, they know thousands are being fined because their parking ticket machines don't work properly. But, this rakes in a huge fortune for them, so they let it ride. There is zero recourse for the driver. There is no way you can speak to anyone from Smart Parking. You are more likely to have a genuine conversation with God before that ever happens. British Parking Association's Approved Operator Scheme need to get their act together. What exactly does this organization do? Or are they in cahoots?
