Legalised thieves This company issued a parking fine to my brother,which was paid well within the time period a mouth later a debt recovery demanded £170 for unpaid parking fine, on contacting them and explaining he had paid. My brother is a older man that doesn't do anything on line, he tried to call parking smart and was informed he had to do any correspondence via the form online. The debt collection company were very aggressive with threats of penalties. Frightened by this he went ahead and paid the debt collection company. Not only did he pay the parking fine he also paid the debt company, both these companies are legal thieves praying on vulnerable people and avoid good honest people being able to speak in person

This was honestly one of the worst things hear about post Christmas. I accidentally stayed past my time by 13 minutes! Only 13 minutes as I had lost my keys and didn’t see how to pay for extra time and they fined me £60 and that was the discounted price because I paid it within the time. I also only got the letter through the post 2 days before the discount period was due to end which was honestly disgraceful. It was a terrible quality carpark as well, not worth the £2 I paid in the first place . Never using a smart parking car park again

Visited Heybridge Basin, Maldon, Essex on New Year's day, with my son in another car. We paid for both cars, for 2 hours. We have receipts for both. This week both cars received PCNs, despite paying. We have both appealed & will not be paying. I have contacted the Parish Council who owns the car park & the MP. Also, I have informed Smart Parking that I am charging them £50 per hour for the time taken to find receipts & complete appeal form. I advise anybody to refuse to pay & not accept their bullying, intimidating tactics, designed to frighten the public into paying

Absolutely disgusting 'company'. As with inappropriately high train fines, the government should intervene. They fined my £60 for a 21 minute inadvertent stay (I didn't see any signage at all and neither did my missus). I can only hope they go out of business or the government creates more proportionate regulation of what fines can be issued.

Thieves and crooks. This shit should be locked up and punished for robbing people

The entire business model is based on ripping off people and making massive profits. It is about time that the Government intervened to outlaw companies like this. Why any reputable organisation would wish to be associated with these bandits is a complete mystery.

My daughter parked my car in the Smart Parking Multi-Storey in Perth. On paying at the machine it would only take £1.20 then wouldn't accept anymore coins. 1 week later I received a Parking fine which I appealed as the machine had malfunctioned. Received a confirmation e-mail for my appeal which said I should hear within 28 days. Time past and I heard nothing. Phoned, but for the "safety of their caller handlers" I couldn't speak with anyone and no e-mail address available. Start of January I received a letter from a Debt Recovery Agency for £170 as Smart Parking said I hadn't responded to their letters - I didn't get any!! I have gone through so many ways to highlight their shortfalls, but at present without much luck.I paid the £170 as legal advice was to take them to court would cost more. Be Warned !!!! I don't want others to be in same position
