Got an organic spray tan and wasn't very satisfied with the results. The space was relaxing and the person doing it was nice and efficient, however the spray tan didn't last. I was told the tan would last 5-7 days, however on the second day it had essentially faded. I had gotten the tan for a wedding and didn't look any different than normal on the day of the wedding. I did look tan the day immediately after the spray tan, so if you are going to an event I would recommend getting it as close to the event as possible. Hands were much darker than the rest of my body but otherwise fairly even.

I've been to other Skin Spa locations before and everyone there is always friendly. However this time I've encountered an esthetician whom seems to be not so friendly. I don't know if it's because I was asking questions about the difference between regular massages and prenatal massages during my wax and distracted her or something. I've also disclosed to her that my skin is sensitive, I don't like to use the soft wax cause it rips my skin and that it's better to just go over once or twice with hard wax and leave the stubborn hair if it doesn't want to come out the second time around. However she seems to have disregarded my comment, went along and did the soft wax anyways. Not to mention the multiple times she did the wax and didn't reapply the baby powder causing the soft wax to have a grip on my sensitive skin. I just wanted her to finish and leave at that point. So the experience at 57th location was a disaster. I think I will have to go out of my way back to the one on 44th.

UPDATE: Please see the response from Skin Spa below, THERE IS NOTHING IN THE EMAIL CONFIRMING CASH TIP. If I could upload a photo I would, but nope. I went over the offer email, the confirmation email, the follow up email....nowhere. So before you respond incorrectly to try and feign interest, like you are actively aware of your customers, speak the truth. Also - please be honest about why you stopped credit card tipping - it is to save YOU taxes...no other reason. Even the checkout guy admitted that to me, as would anyone. I don't care that much, until you responded with complete dishonesty - don't you understand most customers just want the truth? I also stopped going there because you lost all the decent massage therapists to other places because you were terrible to work for. I know this time she straight out of school, so I won't be surprised when she is gone in a few months. --------------------------------------------------------- My massage was great!!! the massage therapist was amazing, and very nice. When i go to checkout I find out they don't allow tips on the credit card (they used to, so this was new to me). since I live around the corner I had gone with just my phone and credit card, not my atm card, and told him I didn't have an atm card on me. He proceeded to chastise me and tell me it was "CLEARLY written in all emails and appointment reminders" I looked at all my emails and appt reminders, it was NOWHERE to be found. I pointed that out to him, he said "oh, well, I will be sure to let my general manager know" and then I found a $5 I had and said, at least I can leave this until I can come back with cash. He said "Well, at leasst it is sooooommmmething" - sorry YOU failed to make your policy known ahead of time

Let me just start off by staying the estheticians are amazing! and the services they provide are amazing and they are great at what they do, if it was solely up to them 10 stars for sure, but here is why i cant do that. I had a family emergency and i called the salon the morning of my apptointment and was greeted by a rude receptionist who told me it wasn't her issue and i had to pay the $50 cancellation fee because i was holding up that space when there were other paying customers that would of wanted that slot. Ummmm last i checked i was also a paying customer, and i also didnt mind paying the cancellation fee seeing as this is written in their cancellation policy but the rudeness was beyond!! As i tried to explain to her my situation she cut me off and said she had other callers and if i didnt make my appointment she would charge my card $50 and proceeded to hang up. I managed to get out of work early to handle my family situation (thankfully it wasnt anything too serious but still had to return home as soon as i was done) and was able to make it to my appointment right on time! i explained the situation to the staff at the front desk and they were very apologetic about everything. After my appointment they were trying to sell me all of their product which i didn't mind and normally am all for it but keep in mind i had to run back home (i let them also know this before my appointment, the only reason i went is i am not in a position to be charged an additional $50) in the commotion of it all i forgot to tip my esthetician 1000% my fault i realized this on my way home and would of stopped by the next day to do so when i had the time but then the weirdest thing happened, they called me about an hour or so after my appointment asking me WHY i had not tipped her!!! Now keep in mind the last time i checked a tip was optional, and yes my esthetician did deserve a fabulous tip because she did a fabulous job i just wasn't in the proper head frame and i will admit that is my fault all the way, but to call a customer and demand why they didnt leave a tip?? that was the last straw for me. I went to the SoHo location and i cant say i will be stopping by there again.

The bottom line is that I went for a massage simply to relax, and Francis did a great job with the massage. However, compared to every other place I have gone, the room itself felt clinical - it was not a destressing environment at all. Unlike other reviews I had read, the front desk staff (different folks before and after) were both very pleasant.

The location is convenient and the place is neat and clean. I went for a massage. The therapist is fine, but the reception staff member seems to be more interested in selling me more of their programs than to make sure the quality of the service is satisfactory, which left me an impression that it is a place only cares about grabbing customers' money! And that is why I rate this place as 3 stars.

My massage was very good, but I'm so annoyed that Skin Spa doesn't accept credit card tips. They have an atm, which charges $2 or $3 on top of what your bank charges you. Would go back if they allowed tipping on credit cards.

Once you are in the hands of the specialist you get the service you deserve. But before that, you have to deal with extremely immature and unprofessional front staff. They sound like mean middle school girls, no please, no thank you. Extremely rude and condescending.
