$80 for a basic -- very basic -- facial isn't cheap. Results were good, my skin felt clean, soft and revived. Everything is extra, and there is not much massage or pampering. More of a clinical environment and experience. Good enough but don't go for destressing.

While I have been to skin spa before and gotten better treatment, I have also been there and gotten worse. It's not a bad way to spend a Lunch hour Not sure if the technicians were or want to be physical therapists (massages have often included stretching I would usually reserve for PT)

I'm reviewing the hair removal laser services. The technicians are nice enough but if you don't know how to time and space out your sessions, no one will tell you how. It seems very fast and not very careful as a whole, but it's by far the most affordable option in the city! Never waited too long either.

Very nice environment, very sweet staff. However, the massage is 50 minutes - by the time I was taken to my room and undressed (which didn't take me long) my massage totaled 40 minutes. Other places offer a 60 minute massage for the same price so I would probably go somewhere else the next time.

I used to do hair so I understand that everyone can have an off day, but this was not my favorite. I have come to skin spa before but only for waxing. It was my birthday and I wanted to treat myself to a facial. I am 41 and look 29 so I love my skin and take good care of it- but it was getting really dry and my at home facials didn't seem to be doing enough. So when I got my 20% off for my birthday I figured why not! First, I called to ask what facial was recommended because I have sensitive skin and the receptionist told me the customized facial so that the esthetician could look at my skin and work from there. I was looking forward to a relaxing nice facial and what I got was a little more than something I could have done (and do) at home. I let the her know that I had been at the beach the previous weekend for my birthday and got a little sunburned, I felt that my face was really dry. She then told me I should get an oxy trio which I said ok, but then she said that was not a facial and that the facial was extra. So after some confusion- I decided to go with the "customized" facial. The esthetician told me 3 times ,my skin was dry and I said I know that is why I came in for a facial. Then asked me repeatedly if I drink water- which I repeatedly answered that I did- to which she said I don't think so and continued to ask if I drink a lot of coffee or tea- I said no I really only drink water I don't even drink caffeine. Honestly, at this point I wasn't even relaxed. She said I had hyper-pigmentation which I get ever summer from the sun- because of my sensitive skin- she said it was probably hormonal, and I said no I get it every summer, I spent the previous weekend at the beach. This was little more than a home facial, wash , exfoliate, the extractions I guess but I don't really have anything to extract so that was like 2 min, and a very quick face massage and mask...took 40 minutes which was supposed to be 50 according to the website. My skin did not feel refreshed, it did not look refreshed, and I was not relaxed. I have never received a facial in New York - where I left looking not even as good as when I wash my face at home. I still tipped, it wasn't the worst, but it definitely wasn't my favorite, I was really disappointed in the massage part- that is my favorite part.....I also am sad I didn't feel Zen like I normally do. If you do not have a regular face regimen at home maybe this facial would be for you - but unless it is I guess loaded up with additional items -it is little more than an at home facial. Since the place is called "Skin Spa New York," I was expecting a relaxing, warm, comforting, lovely spa-like environment. However, this place is located within a hair salon (this is the UES location, FYI), and has a very cold, clinical appearance and feel (more akin to a doctor's office than a spa). It does not have any spa-like amenities, such as steam rooms or saunas, and does not offer any expected extras, like spa-water, locker rooms, a ladies room with skin care and hair care products to use, etc. Instead, you simply get the service you book-- nothing more, nothing less. That said, the service I received was just fine, and the esthetician was kind and competent. I probably won't go back, just because I expect a lot more out of a spa (and it's not cheap!), and there are just too many better options to pay this much for subpar offerings.

It was my first visit, so I got discount and was very good deal. An aesthetian was very nice and friendly, but squeezed my nose one was very pain that I felt like almost break my nose which was scarred. Other than that I like the facial one.

My aesthetician was very nice and professional; however, I developed a rash the next day after the peel which did not happen previously.
