Broke two items when packing into truck. Decided to take nearly 40mins longer to travel between locations when they were right behind us. When we called them they stated there was a broken down vehicle which was total BS. They thrn charged me for their break time. Wont use again, dishonest.

Delivery Date dumped on us with no warning
We hired Simply Moving because of the excellent Yelp and Trustpilot reviews, and the actual packing of our items seemed to go rather well. However, there were some glitches --- although the email we got for the move indicated we were supposed to pay via cashier's check (which we did), their automated system ALSO charged our credit card in error. Though they quickly rectified the error, it gave me a sense of sloppiness on the part of the company.
They gave us an estimate of 1-21 days to complete the move. Fine, it's understandable that they wouldn't know exactly how long it might take. But, we had assumed, given their reputation for customer service, they would at least give us some indication as the delivery date got closer at least whether the truck was in the vicinity or not, and a range of dates we might expect the delivery to occur.
But no, today the driver calls, completely out of the blue, and says he wants to deliver our shipment TOMORROW. Yes, tomorrow. No advance warning whatsoever, Simply Moving didn't even tell us when the truck left the East Coast. My wife has a job interview tomorrow, AND I have meetings tomorrow at work. We explained this to the driver, but Simply's dispatcher just said, either we take delivery tomorrow or pay for 21 days of storage and fees for a crew to store and repack our items for delivery at a later date.
Other moving companies actually give you satellite tracking of their trucks --- we get ZERO warning the truck is even going to come this week, and get a call literally the day before, when we have busy lives and a busy schedule.
Update:
The General Manager contacted me to apologize again and to let us know they took my complaint seriously and spoke with the dispatcher. Based on our conversation I feel they have made an effort to avoid this sort of problem again in the future --- so I've updated my review to three stars, and would no longer say I wouldn't recommend them to others. They did do a good job moving our stuff across the country --- the problem was primarily in our case with what I felt was poor customer service around the delivery scheduling. However, I trust that they have heard this complaint loud and clear and hopefully in the future other customers won't experience this --- and other customers have clearly had better experiences with them, despite the fact that we had this problem. I feel they are going to make a good faith effort to avoid this kind of problem in future.

Good service
The movers were fast and efficient, although they arrived 1 hours later than expected. They complained about an unexpected flight of stairs et some extra and started contesting the estimate although I had been told that it was a flat rate based on cubic meter and not the number of boxes or pieces. I chose the self packing steps, they were careful in packing the bed and furniture. Overall good experience, but never pleasant to feel like you need to renegotiate or bargain, or be forced to tip extra ...

Nice service with a few hiccups
Both movers were nice and extremely hard working, but a few errors were made. Movers arrived 45 mins after scheduled arrival window and left a large box and the first address. It was clearly indicated that the new address only permits residents to move in between the hours of 10am-4:30pm and the movers did not arrive at the second location until 4:15.

We got the "C" team!
The movers were pleasant enough. However, we did not see them as truly experienced movers. They were a sub to Simply Moving - which I was told is normal - but wasn't the case when we the friends who recommended them used them. I would have liked to have known we would have a sub prior to them showing up.
The most disturbing thing was that the head mover told us to pay him in cash for extras and their tip prior to any moving being completed!
I called Simply Moving and spoke to our rep and to Rock who told me NOT to pay them anything that our agreement was with Simply Moving.
We did count all the boxes and items moved and compared them to the estimate and agreed on the final total with Rock.
I have to say a number of our pieces of furniture were scratched. A door into one of the offices was scratched....and a file cabinet was bent making it now difficult to open one of the drawers. As I said before, these were not experienced movers. We felt we got the "C" team for sure.
My boss did tip them after they were done. It was a long day for all of us.
I am not sure that I would use this company again unless we were assured that we had Simply Moving and NOT a sub.

Missing one box
The movers lost one of my wardrobe boxes and claimed I checked the moving truck to confirmed it was empty. I didn't do that, which I should've so now it's a he-said-she-said situation. Lesson learned.

Wonderful work crew but many hidden surprises
The crew did an ABSOLOUTLY great job loading my items. For that they get 5 stars. But then the hidden surprises began. When I originally contracted the job I laid my cards on the table. I stated I had a firm budget of $1200. Could they do the job for this flat rate. They said they could and agreed. The required a $50. Deposit which I gave them with an atm card that inly had a few hundred in that account. The morning of the job the crew said there was a problem with my credit card. Basically they billed the entire job without telling me they were doing it. Of course the full job didn't go through as I planned to pay with another card with a higher open limit on it. I kind of feel it was done in a sneaky type of way. Then an hour later the workers hand me a form that states my price on the job does not include tipping the men and they get 10 to 20% additional. Naturally I complained that I believe tipping practices should have been revealed. I told them no way was I shelling out that kind of tip when I was not informed of it. But being I have compassion for the working man I gave each a $35.00 tip per man. After the truck was fully loaded they started more nonsense that I some was over the square feet allowance. Bottom line is an agreed to job of $1200 became over $1400. My biggest gripe is not being told about these things before hand. The fault lays with the people at home office not the workers. I would not use this comoany ever again
