Initially had a good move with simply moving. Decides to refer my friends through the referral program where they say they give you a percentage of each referrals move.
2 of my friends moved w the company and I heard nothing from them. I called, sent emails, and no emails back. Its not right to have a dishonest referral program advertised if you don't have a system to follow up with it.

Slow and disorganized
We had 3 movers move us in a span of 8 hours from 4pm until 10pm. They scratched up our mirror and very expensive nightstand too. They were incredibly slow and disorganized, seemingly inexperienced.

Somewhat satisfied
Guys did not put the refrigerator where I asked. They left it in the driveway for me to move. Not good!

Find another company, For New York City
Didn't show up on time....didn't have proper packing equipment, for my job. They also broke/damaged my lamps, a Lampshade, and a expensive piece of art....was totally broken, beyond repair.

Slow and made mistakes
Good: friendly, nice movers
Bad: Slow movers; left key item at old place (which I had to drive 2 hours to go back for); damaged and made bed mattresses dirty; used old, tattered cloths to wrap my furniture in

Disaster move
EDITED to reflect the fact that the moving company went out of its way to contact me after I complained and issued me a partial refund. They offered their apologies over and over again, which was something, but honestly I just wish that this hadn't happened.
Original post: This was the worst move of my life. Although the foreman seemed competent, the other two members of the crew seemed unable to handle basic moving logic (they were often bringing up one box at a time, despite the fact that this is not efficient AND we were on a deadline with the elevator being reserved).
First, this move took much longer than it should have. I have about 500 cubic feet of stuff - a one bedroom. It should not have taken over 7 hours to move, especially since I had packed almost everything myself. I have moved three times in the past two years, including cross-country, twice. I am an efficient packer and now how the moving process goes. Part of this is because the third member of the crew showed up several hours late, so the foreman was doing all of the moving while the other guy watched the truck.
I was slapped with two disassembly charges (including a new disassembly charge for my bed, even though I had specified it would need to be disassembled, apparently my bed is not "standard", which I found to be a nasty surprise). The team insisted it could not get my desk out without disassembling it - even though it had been moved into this apartment without being disassembled.
On the way to my new apartment, apparently my floor lamp was broken. I was asked to provide information about how much it would cost to replace the broken part. When I did not know this information, we reached a dead end. Then another lamp, an expensive Kartell lamp, was broken during the move. Both breaks were reported offhandedly as though they were minor instances and partially my fault, which I did not appreciate.
Then the crew broke an emergency exit sign in my building and initially DENIED it to the building management. It was only once the super insisted that he had seen it happen and it was on camera anyways that the crew fessed up to it. But there was then a lengthy argument between the crew and my building's management, which was all very unprofessional. At this point in time, we had run out of time on the elevator reservation and exceeded the move-in window at my new building. Although the elevator had been reserved for me for six hours and I had been careful to keep checking in with the crew about how we were doing on time, they nonchalantly exceeded the deadline. I am now facing a fine from my building, on my first day, for this offense. During this whole altercation, the movers were not supportive nor did they run interference. I felt like I was getting attacked on all sides.
This was the worst move I've ever had, and like I said, I've moved a lot, especially recently. Though I do not personally wish ill on the guys who moved me, nor do I want to cost anyone their job, I will never use Simply Moving again.

Extremely Disappointed!
This move was the worst of my life and I’ve moved a lot.
I thought by the reviews that this would be fantastic and smooth, but I was severely disappointed.
First off they arrived and seemed to have no idea that this was a full service move, and they were not shy about sharing their frustration. I ordered the full service move because I am in mourning over a family member who died in that apartment and I had to move quickly so that I didn’t have to keep living in the place that reminded me of him.
The foreman made several cracks about there being no music (again, I’m in mourning) and about how my friend and I were taking it easy. When we eventually started to pitch in because they were taking so long, he cracked that our “break was over”.
I’ve never seen a moving crew with such a lack of hustle. I’ve moved that same set of furniture three times, and this move took more than three times the amount of time to load out. Even with the packing, this is ridiculous. The time frame for the movers was 3-5pm and I scheduled the freight elevator for 5pm-7pm and we arrived at 6:55pm. We almost missed the time frame completely, but thankfully my building was willing to be gracious and help me out.
I was surprised when they decided not to move the two couches and media center that were downstairs first. They waited until last. When I moved in the media center, although tight, it fit down the stairs, but these movers were not able to figure out the physics even when my friend and I were trying to describe it to them. If my friend could have lifted the other end I would have just done it myself! After 10 minutes of arguing that the previous movers never could have gotten it down the stairs they finally took the top portion off to move it. I don’t even know why I was a part of this conversation. if they couldn’t get it up what was I supposed to say!? They should have just taken the piece apart and gotten on with it. Although they did chip the media center in several places and put it back together incorrectly.
I have two large bookshelf-like pieces. On every other move I’ve had the movers were able to leave everything in place and tape up the items inside so they wouldn’t move around, and then they made sure to keep the pieces in the upright position as much as possible. Both of those times, everything remained in its place. These movers thought that the bookshelves were too heavy and insisted on packing everything inside them. When I told them how to tape up some of the items inside so they would stay in place, they just did nothing and then said that it was my fault that all the items inside went all over the place. They also insisted that the shelves needed to be taken out but they only removed them on one of the pieces. They either needed to taken out or not, so I don’t know why it had to be on one piece and not the other when they are identical. And for some reason they only took out 1 of the 8 drawers.
When I realized that we might not make the freight elevator at my new place my friend and I had to start packing things up ourselves and watched them kick the power strip that held my apple tv and bluetooth speaker around the floor until I picked it up from their feet and put it in a box. My friend and I were hustling to get as much done as we could, but the movers kept at the same casual pace they’d had all day. And then the foreman had the audacity to tell me, as I was covered in sweat from moving so many boxes, that he had packed a lot for me (ya know, doing his job) so he hopes I’ll take care of him and his guys. He was only half way done with the job! I usually tip $100 per guy when I get movers, but I only gave them half that, which honestly was more than they deserved.
Now as I unpack, I see how inefficiently they packed everything, using far more boxes than were necessary, things just thrown around inside boxes, and a number of chips in several of my pieces.
When they finally arrived at the new place they unpacked the truck without any of them coming up to see the layout of the apartment. They needed to bring the media center and couches in first, which should have been simple since they were the last to go in the truck, but they brought up the three other large pieces that then had to sit in the hallway while they moved the rest in.
I am a strong woman, and it seems stronger than those men. The foreman commented on it several times, and not in a complimentary way. I had them put all the boxes and items in the empty second bedroom with everything against the wall and to stack the boxes and then the foreman came to tell me that there was no more room. But when I walked in everything had just been dropped in there in the most inefficient way, so again I went to work and started rearranging what they had done.
The foreman told the other two movers in both apartments the same directions I told him, but several times I had to stop them from doing things because they were not following those directions.
I will never use your company again and I will never recommend it to anyone.
