Told me I could get a refund, then refused. Had to file a complaint with BBB to get a refund.
Update: I filed a complaint with the BBB and Simple Mobile called me and offered a refund. I accepted their response which closed the BBB complaint and I gave them a star for remedying the situation, but that doesn't mean I'm happy. It shouldn't take filing a formal complaint to get a company to act according to normal business/human practices. Also, their support agents need better training (including ethics) and/or need to stop lying about their policies. The lowest level of service I'd expect would be the support agent to tell me: "No, you can't get a refund under any circumstances." Or slightly better: "You may be able to get a refund, but only under these very specific conditions which I'll lay out for you in black and white." Then I could unhappily wait for the end of the billing cycle and then switch. If we had gone to court I'd have probably been awarded some damages for the stress they caused by telling me initially, more or less: I know we said we'd refund your money, but we found a loophole and instead we're stealing your money (TeRmS oF SeRvIcE) and there's nothing you can do about it. Well my terms of service are if you don't provide a service you don't get my money. Initial Experience: Had to switch to a different provider due to Simple Mobile not supporting smart watches. My billing cycle started yesterday and a payment was processed, but I was told I could get a refund. I was told I could switch then call back and get a refund, which I needed to do to make sure that the new provider could activate the device successfully. After the device and my phone were successfully activated by the new provider, Simple Mobile now said they could not refund my money after transferring service. I ended up I paying $50 for less than 1 day of service.
