This site is a scammers dream!! I joined this site thinking it would be secure and give me a gentle introduction to dating after my husband passed away. This was a mistake. I was targeted multiple times with people trying to get money out of me.
I am very disappointed, I have tried to complain via the site and cannot do it which makes you think they are inundated with complaints so they just don’t bother. I have cancelled my subscription but have lost out on the three month subscription I had to pay upfront.

Never got past the questions. If you have to answer that many, can only guess how much?

I wish i could give a negative score
I wish i could give a negative score, because this appalling site is worse than useless. They charge an eye-watering £89.95 a month on the basis that they use personality data to find suitable matches, but that is simply not true in my experience. The matches they proposed were wholly unsuitable, and mostly lived over three hours away.
Of course if you fail to find somebody the hope is that you will extend membership, so clearly that is their priority. Just before my term expired, i did start getting messages from suspiciously attractive women, and i am persuaded that those were fake profiles created by SS to con people into prolonging membership.
I realised it was a waste of time within days, and cancelled my membership in the first week. Unlike most sites, they do NOT send an email to confirm cancellation, even though 'Reactivate renewal' appears on your account page. If you are foolish enough to subscribe, i urge you to contact your card holder to block them from taking any further payments. I also could not delete my profile or card details, which is surely illegal.
Out of curiosity, i created a female profile, and found that they only charge women £19.95 a month. This is of course sex discrimination on steroids, and as such illegal.

DANGER ahead
It is annoying that they ignore all your answers and make ridiculously inappropriate matches. But that's just the scam I sort of expected. BUT they ignore a situation that is potentially dangerous, and have not warned their clients.
Five times I have received a message from someone who say they have found their love, and are going off the site but they have a shy friend, who is tall, well off, and eager to meet me since he saw my profile. Wound I please email him so that we could become friends? Obviously they want my email, and hope that I am credulous enough to respond. Aside from the unattractive idea of a shy 80 year old, this could work on someone who is naive, rather than stupid. There is an enormous amount of information to be gleaned from email addresses.
I have pointed this out to the lackadaisical and indifferent customer service department, located in Germany and they could not care less. While I don't hope than someone would be ensnared, perhaps they need a law suit to wake them up. You are not going to find paradise, but if you stay on the site, only communicate within it until you have googled your correspondent and you know he is legitimate.

DIFFICULT TO ESCAPE THEIR SUBSCRIPTIONS
I am not commenting on the quality of the dating candidates. My disgust is the difficulty in getting out of the auto renewal. It asks for your password which I entered 10 times and it would not move it on. I then get an email stating the are going to take my subscription of another 6 months. You cannot contact them. I have had to cancel my card with my bank in order to stop the payment going through. Be very careful with this company.

I was scammed on SilverSingles.com
Ladies beware! a SS member e-mailed about a 'friend' of his and wanted me to contact him. The friend said all the right things, I would of sworn my life he was real. Beautiful articulate e-mails. Named Brian Williams, says from Columbia, SC formerly FL - widowed, daughter in college in Ireland - dreamy! scamed me into giving him a E-bay gift card before we met - luckily it wasn't the $500 he asked for - I reported to SS but have yet to hear anything. I will never go on-line dating again, I thought I was safe. Don't go off off the site if they ask you. Discusted in SC!!!

They are thieves and try to prevent you from leaving the site
The try to trap you into staying on their account ..you cannot cancel your subscription.. no proper customer care .Just Generic replies.. its just a money making machine.. don't use it.. I am still trying to find how to get out of it so they don't take my money for a second month ..but cannot see how.. i think I'll call my bank and try to put a stop to the payment. I also suffered terrible racial abuse from a match on silver singles and i reported it but they did nothing about it.

Don't bother because they not bothered about you
Joined this site hoping to have realistic opportunities to meet potential men for dates leading to romance, longevity etc.
If you have a jet plane that can get you to dates that are nowhere nearby to where you live in the UK, then this may be the site for you. I changed my distance requirements in order to meet someone in nearby reach and got almost zero contacts. The site advised me that it would minimise my chances but have they no males in my region? If so, why wasn't I advised of this when I joined.
The matches that I sent messages or smiles to, I never heard back from. I don't consider that I'm hideously unattractive both mentally and/or physically and people whom I know or meet (generally) confirm this to me.
I don't get why men wish to correspond with you when they live over 100 miles away. Seems a little suspicious to me but I could be wrong.
I also don't understand why this site gets high ratings in other online reviews.
