Should stick to Manufacturing - leave Retail to others
Placed an order on the WD EU online store on the 1st of Jan. Checkout stated delivery would be within 1-3 days which I took with a pinch of salt given that it was New Year's day and post-Brexit. However, I never imagined it would the 18th of Jan before I received my order. I understand that Covid and Brexit are causing some issues - so why not be honest and set realistic expectations for your customers? After waiting several days with the Order status still showing 'Processing', I raised a support query asking for an ETA. It took WD a further 6 days to respond with an unhelpful reply stating the obvious, with no real update in terms of realistic delivery date etc. So, I emailed again asking for a more meaningful update, again no reply for another 6 days - on the same day the order finally arrived. To make things worse, when they did eventually dispatch, the original tracking number was wrong as well! Contrast this with Jabra, with whom I ordered on the 10th (a weekend), they dispatched on Monday and it arrived on the 14th - and this was also coming from Europe - originating in the Netherlands as per the WD order and using same UPS delivery service. Did WD not know that Covid was around and that Brexit had happened, before they stated 2-3 days delivery? I just pray the drive I ordered does not develop a fault, I would not want to have to go through this headache again with WD. Think I will stick to Amazon UK or Crucial UK in the future.
