Shipping is good, but trunk won't last
Scheduling, pick-up, and drop-off worked as planned, but trunks get too beat up in shipping. It would be much better if Ship Camps would provide boxes. We had to replace my child's first trunk after one year and the second trunk only lasted two years of using Ship Camps. Camps do not have space to store boxes for the summer. I highly recommend figuring out a box solution if you are going to use ShipCamps or else plan on buying a new $200 trunk every 1 to 2 summers. EDIT: ShipCamps made the process of filing the insurance claim easy, and they approved the claim promptly, so from a financial standpoint, I'm happy. However, I'm still not happy with having to put a large trunk into the city landfill every two years, which is what we've done since our camp started using ShipCamps. The prior shipping company provided boxes.
Response from Ship CampsAug 18, 2026
Ms. Cleveland, Good morning, and thank you for sharing your recent Ship Camps experience. We're glad your camper's trunks arrived ahead of schedule on both the outbound and return legs of your round-trip shipment. That said, we're sorry to hear the trunk arrived damaged on the return leg. Receiving a trunk in that condition is by no means typical, but we're here to help when it does happen. All shipments come with complimentary insurance, with the option to insure up to $7,500, so while unfortunate, trunk damage is covered under our insurance policy. We can see our team was in communication with you yesterday, and provided a link to our online claims form. Once the claim is submitted, our Claims Team will review the submission promptly for approval and reimbursement. We apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this caused, and we look forward to resolving this to your satisfaction. If you have any questions regarding the claims form, or need help submitting your claim, just let us know. We're here to help. Thank you in advance for your time, and we look forward to resolving this matter.
