Let me start by saying that going with Shemmassian Academic Consulting was hands-down THE BEST decision I could have made for my medical school application. Coming off of a disappointing first application cycle, I was at a complete loss as to what my next steps should be and as a result, hesitant to reapply just to go through the same thing all over again. This soon changed after my first consultation with Dr. Shemmassian. I had called a couple other academic consulting firms, but none seemed as genuinely invested in my success as he was. Knowing that the upcoming cycle was about to start accepting application submissions and that I had a very limited amount of time to draft my personal statement, he set me up with my advisor the next day. Three days after having a brainstorming session over the phone and emailing edits back and forth, I had a personal statement I was proud of. I couldn’t have asked for a better advisor if I tried. His extremely quick and consistent responses to any and all questions I had, confidence in me, and unwavering support throughout this grueling process made such a huge difference compared to my first cycle. Although secondaries and interviews were daunting, I can honestly say that I never felt extremely overwhelmed because I could always rely on my advisor for perspective and motivation. His honesty with regard to edits as well as his constructive criticism on how to improve my interviewing were invaluable, and allowed me to tell my story in the most polished way possible. To go from no interview invites during my first application cycle to being accepted to every school I interviewed at, including my top choice, is astounding. I can’t thank Dr. Shemmassian, my advisor, and everyone at SAC enough because they are the primary reason my dream of becoming a doctor is no longer just a dream, but now a reality.

They did an exceptional job at sharpening my MCAT strategies, leading to me getting a 523. As well, they are doing a great job advising me on how to apply. They are totally worth the money if you have a plan and are intent on medicine.

The services offered by Shemassian counseling have been terrific, especially while trying to navigate the sometimes complicated college application process. My consultant was very helpful. Whether it be quickly responding to any inquiries over email or text or keeping me on track of all my revisions and essays, she provided incredible support. I want to thank Dr.Shemmassian and his team for providing me with unwavering support through this med school application cycle. This is my first time applying and I got interviewed+accepted at multiple colleges, including my top choice. I was placed with mentors who were kind, understanding and very supportive. They not only helped with filling out applications, essays and interview prep but also gave me moral support when I was feeling doubtful of myself. My academic stats were not too impressive (GPA 3.3, sGPA 3.1, and MCAT 504) which created a lot of confusion and frustration within me towards the end of December but my mentor Tay Kim was convinced that I would definitely make it this cycle - and he was right!! He gave eye opening pointers to express myself while writing essays and helped me conquer my hesitation during mock interviews in Jan. He helped me form good points to answer some of the most commonly asked interview questions and also for difficult ones (there’s no way we can prepare for ALL and any questions) but I felt prepared enough to answer any and all questions. He always kept motivating me and kept believing in me when I started thinking about applying for the next cycle in December. He was the one who told me it’s not over yet, while asking me to be patient. The only draw back I faced was that my mentors kept changing but they all were equally good and professional and knew my application well enough to guide me. I definitely could not have done it without them. I recommend their team and what they have to offer to everyone else, worth every penny!

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Alex Plana who helped guide me through the 2021 medical school application cycle. Both Alex and Shirag were more-than-effective in providing practical support (primary app edits, secondary essay reviews, interview prep), but more notably, were both incredibly genuine and transparent/honest individuals to work with. I initially did not want to commit to one of the larger (more expensive) consulting packages, and Shirag took the time to help tailor an "a la carte" support plan for me, in which I paid for services as I needed them, which turned out to be much more cost-effective and more importantly, a big help in helping me put together a successful application. I was accepted to one of my top schools and would highly recommend Shemmassian Consulting!

I am beyond grateful of all the help and support I received from SAC! The team is very knowledgeable about the medical school admissions process. Unlike many other admission consulting services, SAC places a big emphasis on strategy. The consultants themselves are phenomenal writers and editors, and felt like they helped me write to my full potential. SAC has cultivated a culture in which each student is treated as a priority (timeliness and student success were taken very seriously). I had an incredible experience with SAC MCAT tutoring! They provided every resource I could possibly need, including (but not limited to!): a) making me a schedule; b) portal access to videos with tutors walking through passages; c) content guides; d) strategy guides; e) CARS strategies; f) answering any questions I had with in-depth explanations and video suggestions; and g) emotional support. These high-yield resources focused on the most important information and helped me really understand what I needed to focus on for the exam! The culture of the tutoring was phenomenal, and I felt supported with such professionalism and warmth. My tutor was dedicated to my success and a great source of encouragement to me; he helped me stay in a positive headspace when approaching the test, especially when I was feeling a lot of stress. Figuring out how to navigate MCAT prep while remaining calm is so important. From content, to strategy, to prepping for Test Day, my tutor was there for me every step of the way. From my first to last AAMC full length, I improved 9 points! I am so grateful for all the help I received, and I can't recommend this service highly enough.
