Shemmassian Academic Consulting was an excellent resource that surpassed my expectations. I used it for applying for residency and was glad I did. The first resource was editing of my personal statement. I consider myself a good writer but the editor was able to make my paper even better than I thought possible. The second resource was for interview coaching. The interviewer gave me sound and intelligent advice. After the session, I had a much greater understanding of the interview process and was confident and well-prepared for the upcoming interview. I give this service my highest recommendation. As a nontrad premed hopeful starting the path to medical school at 25, I felt I had a lot of things to balance - MCAT timeline, application materials, telling my story in a way highlighted why I wanted to pursue medicine. I had the chance to speak with Dr. Shemmassian at a few points in the process, and found him to be so encouraging and supportive on my path. I had an excellent experience with SAC. Prior to choosing SAC, I contacted a number of different consulting companies and I found that none of the others were as genuine and responsive as SAC. Their consulting packages were the most competitive in terms of services and price. As soon as I started, Dr. Shemmassian and the entire team were transparent, professional, and supportive. The experience they have in medical school admission advising was both unique and highly valuable. I appreciated that I was able to give input on what areas I needed the most help and those needs were taken into consideration. I worked with Dr. Allan as my direct advisor and she was a perfect match for my stated support wants. Dr. Allan was consistently available for meetings or questions and her creativity and perspective throughout the application process was extremely valuable. Overall, I had an outstanding experience working with the SAC team and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for admissions support.

The Shemmassian MCAT advising was extremely helpful! I started off not scoring as well as I would have liked on practice exams. My tutor helped me realize that the strategies I was employing were less than optimal, and he offered me different strategies that really helped me improve my score. Furthermore, he worked with me to develop a schedule and offered me resources I otherwise would not have known about. I ended up getting a 526, and I definitely could not have done it without the help of the Shemmassian team!

I worked with Shemmassian applying to medical school as a non-traditional applicant. The people that Dr. Shemmassian connected me with were very involved in the medical school admissions system (all having served on adcoms) and knew the process well. They were really qualified and honest. My interview prep session with Dr. R was excellent. It prepared me well for my MMI interview and running through it with her I had a clearer idea of what I was going into before the actual interview, which was great. I also did a general application review with Tony at the beginning of my cycle. He was also extremely qualified and offered detailed advice on my application - it's competitiveness, how it would look to admissions officers, my strengths and weaknesses on paper, what schools I should consider applying to, etc. etc. He was great to talk to. Overall, I would say top notch, really qualified advisors, that looked through my application thoroughly.

Shawnt is possibly the best MCAT tutor out there! He is so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. He turned the process from something terrifying into something enjoyable. Not many teachers can do that. He was so organized which helped immensely. You can expect a 3-4 paragraph summary and action items after each session. He is also really great at keeping you on pace without making you feel bad at all. In fact, you'll probably feel inspired and excited after meeting with him. This is so important for a test like the MCAT whose preparation is more like a marathon than a sprint. All in all, I am very happy to have prepared with Shawnt and achieved a score in my goal range!
