I reached out to Shemmassian Academic Consulting for medical school interview coaching and advice after researching various other similar organizations. What stood out to me was the expertise and resources offered by this program. All coaches have been through their share of interviews and understand how the process works. I was able to receive outstanding support in traditional, MMI, and acting scenarios. In addition, the Shemmassian Academic Consulting website has a comprehensive list of example questions and scenarios that helped in my preparations. Coming into my mock interviews I was extremely nervous, but that was soon placated by the warm and supportive environment of the sessions. The sessions are set up for YOU. The format of the sessions are flexible, depending on your comfort level and areas of concern. It was extremely helpful to have someone experienced work with me and workshop my responses - I felt wholly prepared for my interviews! I cannot recommend Shemmassian Academic Consulting enough, particularly over competing organizations! Most importantly, Shemmassian Academic Consulting recognizes that every applicant is different and the "one size fits all" approach does not work. What sets this organization apart is the attention to YOU as an applicant. Your application is thoroughly reviewed and the sessions are set up to provide comprehensive support to all parts of the application. I am more than satisfied with my experience with Shemmassian Academic Consulting and highly recommend this service to anyone else going through the process of applying to medical school!

I loved the interview coaching that I received from Galen! He asked a broad variety of mock interview questions and gave very thorough feedback on each of my answers, along with great strategies to approach more difficult or curveball questions. He also gave great general tips on how to nail virtual interviews, and he answered all the questions/concerns I had very clearly. He truly cared about my success on the upcoming interview for a top choice school.

Mentors are experienced and give concrete advice that was helpful for me as someone who is not especially strong with interviews. Gave me a plan of attack and a baseline for me to start practicing independently. Mentors were supportive and kind as well.

It went great! The admissions consultant who I worked with (Galen) was extremely helpful, providing me with specific, detailed suggestions on how to improve every question we went over in my mock interview. Plus he helped with "general" "tips based on my own concerns about my interview style. Overall I really got the "feel" for what interviewers are looking for based on his feedback, and because of this I believe I'm much better prepared for my interview!

I enjoyed Shemmassian Academic Consulting's service in applying to medical school very much. As a non-traditional applicant who spent prior time in research, I was assigned a primary advisor (MD-PhD) who is a good fit for my background - who understands my research and knows how to highlight my research experience while focusing on why I would like to become a physician at this point of my time. The service provided by Shemmassian Academic Consulting is very professional. My consultants are very knowledgeable and responsive to my drafts. They improved my drafts tremendously, and I am very happy about the final documents I submitted to medical school. They are also very compassionate and encouraged me frequently during the waiting period of interviews.

I used this site for everything during my application process for Medical School! It helped me with filling out my application, writing my personal statement, interviewing and writing a thank you email after the interview. I found them from a simple google search of "how to fill out medical school application." I am so thankful they popped up, because the website provided everything that I was looking for. Had it not been for these resources, I do not think I would have been accepted into medical school! I would not have known that I shouldn't answer the questions straight forward, and that I should tell more of a story and relate it to medicine. I am beyond thankful for the website, emails, and YouTube videos because they really contributed in part to my success! I can say I easily spent 49+ hours reviewing all resources over the course of 6 months. I had one interview so far and was accepted 10 days later. I have more schools still reviewing my application and look forward to seeing what will be in my future. Nonetheless, I am thrilled to be accepted into medical school!!!

I had a great experience!

I just got into a top 20 medical school! I would have never dreamed of this being possible. A large part of my success here is due to the immense support that the Shemmassian team, especially Dr. VanDusen, provided. Before my interview at the institution, I had the pleasure of working with Dr. VanDusen extensively on my interview skills. While he did not attend the institution I was accepted to, he himself had interviewed and been admitted there several years ago. This allowed me to draw unique insight into that school's particular interview process, and we were able to work on targeted interview skills while crafting my individual pre-med journey into a cohesive narrative that I could artfully articulate. While I felt confident in my application till this point, working with the Shemmassian team truly helped me share my story in a meaningful way, and I believe assured me the win with this acceptance!
