This company lost my trust… then got it back.
UPDATE: After this review, Sequencing.com customer service (CS) reached out in order to understand where their kit activation process went wrong for me. Even the head of CS asked for a phone conversation to best understand! It seems they’re a fairly young company, so mistakes happen, plus I was activating my Kit via my iPad Pro scanning their QR code. Mobile devices can act differently on websites? What regained my trust was being told the IT Dept was working to make sure the issues wouldn’t happen again! Also, that even the President of the company was aware of my review, and concerned. MY unhappy experience was that important to them? Wow. They did not ask me to change my review, or attempt bribery for a better score. This gained my trust. I’m updating the 2 stars to 4, as they are actively making sure the problem is fixed. Including the Terms and Conditions not being accessible - that was likely the iPad. Also, they listened to my suggestion of how i would have reacted positively to a message of ‘if you wish to add your card, this will make it easier if you order additional kits or DNA tests’l. I’ll update again after my tests come in. Great job by CS! I didn’t expect it. —————- Trust pilot seems to be the place for this review, since it implies Trust for the company, and emotionally my trust just tanked. With a capital T! After their prime day pricing and the purchase of the 30+ test kit, my trust was at solid 4 to 5 stars. I’ve now received my kit and went to activate it. I did not take a screenshot of the screen, although I should have. At first there was no problems with the activation information I was providing. But then, there’s a check box that you agree to all of their terms of use, etc. However, if you click on any of those links to read them, a pop-up says that you are going to be completely leaving the activation page and we have to start over. Right there one star Trust and maybe two gone! Then to activate my kit, it requires me to put in payment information! I’ve already paid over $500 for this, so why am I going to pay anything more? There is no explanation at all as to why I’m expected to provide a credit card or sign into my Apple Pay. NO explanation!! More trust stars GONE, ZAPPED. DESTROYED! So I wrote an email to customer support, very unhappy, but still trying to be pleasant. I’m feeling very upset/unsure/maybe scammed at the time, because all I want to do is activate my kit, and now I’m freaked out about what I’ve had to agree to in their terms, and why do I need to pay more money with no explanation as to why or how much? ALL Trust is now gone. Also, during the week Customer Service via phone, closes at 5 PM Eastern, which kind of messes up the rest of the United States trying to call them in the afternoon. Then, I happen to notice that there is a chat bot. So I go there and ask the question. Why do I have to pay additional funds? It turns out this company just wants to keep your card on file so they can charge you when you order additional tests, etc. BUT NOWHERE DO THEY SAY THIS. All right, at this point I am truly regretting my purchase of this DNA kit. This company is playing games and I do not like it! The chat bot does tell me the work around on how to activate my kit without providing payment information. Obviously, I’m not the only one who’s been upset over this. Enter your DNA kit number like this: SQ123ABC-SUPPORT That’s all it takes. So I didn’t have to sign in to my Apple Pay, but this ONE activation page has cost me ALL of my trust in this company! Because of time requirements, I will continue with the testing, but I’m sure not gonna trust that this company is going to be upfront, or not hide information. After all, why couldn’t this payment information area just explain “Adding payment information now is to make it easier when you wish to order additional test or kits.” No problem there! I would’ve been very comfortable with providing payment information. I wouldn’t have felt threatened, confused, etc., at least when it came to having a reason to add my payment information. Instead of having me check a box approving terms of use, etc., why not have a pop-up that shows when you click on the link. That way you do not have to leave the page. These are very simple things to program and set up. So why doesn’t this company have them? At this point my trust level is at a two star. If it improves once I have my DNA results and get to see the test, I may raise my rating. I’m sure hoping that someone at this company will read this and have a conversation with whoever’s made these stupid decisions. Because I cannot be the only one who’s having this visceral emotional extremely negative reaction! Especially in this day when it’s so easy to be scammed. One little lack of trust on one thing, raised all the red flags! This company needs to do better. Especially if they don’t want negative reviews.
