I looked at a lot of dna service providers before deciding on Sequencing.com because of its extensive cutting-edge technology and welcoming customer support. My request was processed in the time frame I was given, and I am quite happy with the result.
For everyone who wants to improve their health and take it to the next level, I heartily recommend them.

I'm not going crazy!
I was able to retrieve and examine my genome data, generate reports geared to the appropriate specialties where genetics concerns exist and begin a journey to understanding why I feel the way I do. This service has been invaluable to my own peace of mind. It will continue to require a great deal of independent research (maintaining the membership was too expensive for me) and I found some of the reports contained conflicting interpretation of my data but it confirmed by predisposition for autoimmune disease and enlightened areas I was unaware needed attention. That being said it is worth noting that the bigger battle for me has been getting my medical team to acknowledge my results. After being told by my gp and my rheumatolgist that "maybe we don't get answers and that we should just continue treating my symptoms", I withdrew from both rosters and am now without a doctor. Sadly, in Canada that's a common thing. Be prepared to continue to being your own advocate once armed with this newly gained information. One can only give the highest kudos to sequencing.com customer support! From emails to social media to reddit, always quick, inormative and patient with those of us that are not so patient. Thank you to them all for being a big part of my ongoing medical journey.

Updated Review:
I want to make an amendment to my review which was originally 2 stars for the reasons in the original review.
It was upsetting that it took a couple of bad reviews to get any answers, but after speaking to Ryan and being a former business owner, licensed property manager and former Regional Marketing, I decided that this turn around was earned through good customer service.
Don’t get me wrong, I hated that it took a bad review for it to be looked into, but I still got to talk to a person, Ryan, who was able to fix everything that was wrong , verified the package I bought, and explained how the third party genetic counseling app worked.
He also shared my frustration with the medical community and was very open to feedback.
Also I want to keep the message about the interface and consumer experience as far as getting sequencing done at the top of the review. I have had my genome done partially through 23&me and 3 WGS 100x through nebula 30xWGS & WGS but I don’t remember how many times processed through the NIH free all of us program.
Sequencing.com is by far the most user friendly. It is much more simple to read than nebula and the free WGS from the NIH data isn’t even available for me to see, plus with Trump cuts the NIH is proposed to have funding cut so I have no idea what will happen to my data. I do also like the more scientific data so Sequencing just makes it easier to filter through data. You get some free reports through the professional package monthly and you can purchase 3rd party analysis to hone in on specific issues. Some of the reports need work, but if you just reach out and talk to a human there about your grievances they will work with you.
I was originally going to leave my terrible 2 star review, but it was a relief to talk to Ryan, who shares my frustrations and from the company’s mission statement it sounds like they are trying to navigate in uncharted waters as well. The difference in customer service via nebula vs sequencing.com also is unmatched and the standard for WGS is actually 30x so you’re good to go making the trade for genuine customer service at sequencing.com.
At the eod You’re more likely to get a doctor to listen having an arsenal of information. I did recently get 1 test confirmed off of it so I hope that this opens doors and EYES of my medical team.
If you have an issue click the button that you want to talk to a human before you write your review. He did explain what happened with communication as well so I just want anyone reading this review to know you can get a person relatively quickly. Erroneous errors like this happen and I left a star off because I was overlooked and I am frustrated about the marketing, but overall I think this company is going to go far and should focus on outreach and putting their name out. Sponsor a really sick person and publicize it. Turn it into a for profit bc charities are a lot of over head, or non profit because WGS is life changing. No two bodies are exactly the same and EVERYTHING is in our DNA so that’s my unsolicited opinion. Teaming up, sponsoring a few people who are undiagnosed or really sick and get your name out there. Rebranding and a different business plan are all this company needs. I am hopeful after my conversation that they will pioneer an even more affordable and high quality Whole Genome Sequencing soon.

Original Review:
I paid for the most expensive wgs and it was advertised with a year of free genetic counseling. I reached out with no response so I bought the $200 app with 3 free months and have yet to get in touch with anyone. I also accidentally bought a report or two duplicate because they didn’t show up in my reports or I looked in the wrong spot. When I wrote about the issue I was told no refund so it’s hard to see this as helpful at this point. It has a ton of information but no tips in talking to your doctor about it and it’s nearly impossible to bypass the egos of physicians. There needs to be clear instructions. I’m extremely disappointed. I thought it would open up doors for my health but it’s just another scam at the end of the day.

Things I wish I knew before
I chose this platform over others like Dante or Nebula due to competitive pricing, strong security credentials, positive community support on Reddit, and DNA processing in the USA or Europe (though my sample was sent to the US). It took 11 weeks to receive my results, a week earlier than expected.
I opted for the 'New Year’s Flash Sale Premium Bundle' for $379, claiming a saving of $2,183, which I couldn't fully reconcile based on the included reports and app costs totalling $272.95 plus the $750 DNA sequencing fee ($1,022.95 total). Despite this, it's a fair price for the service provided, though transparency on the savings calculation would enhance trust. The results are for research purposes only, not medical or diagnostic use.
Sequencing provides an informative timeline view during the sequencing process, though multiple sub-stages appearing on the next 'milestone' can feel misleading. They estimate durations for each stage though which offers reassurance. After the raw data was generated I had to email support to add the reports to my genome, with one still missing (the DNA Selfie). Genome files are downloadable from the dashboard (the TXT file is 16Mb, VCF ~360Mb), but FASTQ and BAM files need an email to the support team. While theoretically these files are usable with other services, additional fees are often necessary for full reporting access. Many formerly free report services now operate on a paid or freemium model.
Sequencing offers a unique 'App Store' feature where third-party companies can analyse your genome with your consent and provide reports in varied formats, such as online dashboards or downloadable PDFs. However, the quality and structure of these reports vary widely depending on the provider, ranging from free to over $100. Therefore it's important to budget for additional reports post-genome sequencing.
The incentive for these companies to create reports varies, and often these apps have competing products (e.g. SelfDecode). Some apps lack sample reports for comparison, making it challenging to assess quality before purchase.
There can be content overlap and contradictory information among the reports. For instance, a $140 report from App MD was well-referenced and high-quality, while a $189 report from Complete Genome Science appeared amateur with conflicting conclusions. Being able to see user reviews on individual reports would be a welcome feature.
Sequencing's Next-Gen Disease Screen (NGDS) is a key product, providing a comprehensive list of diseases categorised into six types: genetic risk, possible genetic risk, possible genetic carrier, medication related, no genetic risk and unknown genetic risk. It offers toggles for 'High confidence' or 'All results', where 'High confidence' indicates well-supported findings by peer-reviewed studies. The significant difference in result numbers between these toggles (3.7k vs 23.7k) reflects the early stage of genetic research. While high confidence results are mainly for well-researched diseases like cancer and diabetes, users may feel compelled to review all results due to the extensive list.
Unfortunately, the lack of exporting options with NGDS limits its shareability with healthcare professionals, which is a drawback for meaningful discussions. Compounding this, when you stop paying $39 monthly your access to NGDS is limited.
Sequencing's Health Screen app complements NGDS by providing monthly updates on new findings related to users' genetic profiles and disease risks, enhancing ongoing awareness.
Ancestry reporting is still pending with Sequencing, but third-party ancestry reports are available for purchase in the marketplace. For example, the $10.99 report from Eone-Diagnomics Genome Center was informative but lacked haplogroup information.
Sequencing's platform occasionally experiences login issues like looping login attempts, which can be frustrating. Despite this, the UI is modern and well-designed.
The platform's advertising can be aggressive, with persistent full-page popups even after purchasing a kit. Users also cannot remove their default payment method independently, requiring support contact for changes. However, Sequencing’s customer support was fantastic at responding to my emails promptly and effectively. My thanks to Ken, Logan and Ryan for patiently dealing with my emails.
While Sequencing's kits are recommended, the quality of their reports and marketplace can be inconsistent and marred by flaws. If I were doing this again I’d get whole genome sequencing and pair it with a service that includes results in a consistent, high quality manner.
