This young woman was unable to pronounce my name! It took 4 tries. She sounded like she was high. I was not sure this was legitimate. Why would you have someone working for you who cannot pronounce the language? Are you exploiting a person who is not able to handle this? A very disconcerting experience. I paid the invoice, but I must tell you that it was concerning.

I discovered a charge on my credit card which increased the fee from $137.00 to $173.00. I have not received an invoice for this charge. That makes me think that the excessive charge was supposed to just slide through unnoticed.

Nobody ever answers, and nobody returned my emergency, after-hours call placed on 11/01/2021!

Back loading dock is very dark. Garage door broken, along with other storage doors there. It is HOT (not warm) in the storage unit area--heat is blasting! It's clean, but I personally saw rodents entering where the broken garage door is. Staff does the best they can with what they have.

I submitted my vacate papers on the day I was moving out and told I had until 10pm to vacate. I returned at 6pm, and my code had already been disabled. I left for vacation the next day so could not vacate for 2 weeks, and your Wrigleyville manager fought me for a week before she granted me access and dropped the additional rental fee. I NEED ANOTHER RENTAL NEXT MONTH. PLEASE PROVIDE A DISCOUNT.

Customer service is abysmal. Mice got into my boxes. Do not give your people your money.

Updated Review: 11 months after my review, Self Storage responds with: “Thank you for your feedback and we understand your frustrations. Even with proper regular maintenance, due to the frequent motion of the garage doors opening and closing, sometimes parts can get loose.” This is the type of customer service I’m referring to. Making an excuse for the mechanical issue just shows how tone deaf this management is. Of course things fail and need to be maintained or replaced. That’s not the issue. The issue is that I was lied to (“send pics and we will review the video and get back to you”) and ignored. I was told I’d be reached out to for resolution. Now it’s 16 months later and the only communication I’ve received is the idiotic response to this review. Take your money elsewhere if you’re looking to store some of your things. Original Review: I've had a storage space here for over 5.5 years now. The storage space itself is fine and I had no complaints until an incident in October of 2020 that did damage to my car. The damage isn't the reason for the review however. The total lack of response and ignoring any requests from me for going on 6 months now is the reason. I talked to the manager about potentially taking care of the damage to my car. They took my pictures, said they would look at the video, and then nothing. Multiple attempts by me to reach them have been unreturned and I've been totally ignored. I'm sure they're protected from any liability due to their 40 page contract you sign but they won't even acknowledge me to confirm that. Completely unprofessional and just inexcusable for something that could have killed me (or anyone) had it fell on my head and not my car. To summarize the incident, there were mangled garage door arms (metal bars attached to door opener and door track 20+ feet above... I'd attach the pics if I could) and bolts loose. Obvious neglect to allow a door in this condition to be used. I parked my car inside the garage, got out and went to my storage, came back to the car and entered my code to open the garage door to leave. As soon as I started to back out, I heard a loud thump on my car. I had no idea what it was but after looking for a couple of minutes, I found a large bolt by my windshield wiper. Bolts had fallen from above and hit the top of my car, bounced onto the windshield. It left two small dents in my roof and scratched a little paint.

Shortly before they jacked up the monthly rate on my unit by nearly 25% earlier this year, I lost my job and fell behind on my bill. Even though I am working again and can get caught up they have refused to work out any sort of payment arrangement. When I spoke with someone about the situation, all she kept saying was that it's all in my lease agreement, that they can't avoid sending it to auction, and the only way to prevent it is paying in full within I think it was 30 days. She said that it's a legal procedure and they don't have a choice - which is total BS, of course. They could simply not begin the process to route it to auction. I would be able to pay them back in full and have my account completely current within two months, including late fees and the lien fee. Absolutely no sense of compassion - I got better treatment from Midway Movers and they were HORRIBLE. I strongly recommend against these monsters.
