An absolute waste of money. Tool comes up with imaginary statements that are completely unrelated. ChatGPT could have done a better job. STAY AWAY.

They charged annual subscription even though it was cancelled several months back. No prior email about the subscription renewal. In last two months there isn't any response to the emails. couldn't able to delete the credit card from the website.

Reading these reviews, it is very obvious that scite.ai has issues with their billing systems. They have replied to several posts stating that an email is sent out before each charge which is absolutely not true, no such email is sent they just charge you. I would welcome them to show me proof of any emails they have sent me before charging, they just send receipts after they charge. I tried to cancel my subscription and it said it was successful on their website, but then got charged another two times. When I realised I was being charged these two extra times I asked for a refund, which they claimed that they can only refund me for the recent charge but not the other charge, stating “they have no records of me cancelling or reaching out to contact them about the issue”. They don’t send out emails confirming you’ve cancelled either. They have obviously got major issues with the subscription and billing. Customer support is not the easiest to get into contact with either, and reply quite sporadically. Overall I would not recommend scite.ai.

Signed up, used it, didn’t like it as Claude/GPT 4 is just as good and then cancelled two days within the 7 day free trial. Still charged me. But hey another GPT wrapper! Wow, so cool. Never seen that one before. Amazed Scite went through M&A and sold for $20MM. Shows how little DD strategics do. SAD!

Hello Harry, We're sorry you had a negative experience using Scite. We're a team of researchers working hard to help students and researchers do better work. We, of course, do offer refunds for people that are unhappy with the tool but the request must be made within 48 hours of the charge. We email ahead of all charges and when charges are made. We go beyond any ChatGPT wrapper as we have access to research articles that no one else has. We think that is a real value add and differentiator. Again, apologies on the negative experience. We will work on making sure the cancelation flow and policy is more clear.

Hi Aaron, We're sorry you didn't have a good experience with Scite. We do send out reminder emails ahead of all charges via email, which is part of our payment processing system. Their customer service is really weird, after I got charged for a subscription after the free-trial because I forgot to cancel it, I emailed their support if I can get a refund because I have no intention to use it, and I actually didn’t like it. They willingly cancelled my subscription and issued a refund. Then after I received my refund they charged me once again! Is this some sort of joke? How could that even happen and I checked my account and there is no subscription, so how do I get charged again for something I don’t have anymore!!

We're sorry you had a negative experience using Scite. If you canceled, got a refund, and then re-activated the tool, that would be the reason for the second charge. Alternatively, if you signed up for multiple accounts, that would also be a reason. Either way, we are happy to refund and investigate where there are issues so apologies this didn't work out. Seems like a miscommunication and an unfortunate experience for you. We will review our policies to improve!

Scite.ai has the potential to be a valuable asset for researchers, but it seems struggling with a lot of limitations. The AI features of the assistant is lacking in functionality. Slow system and downtime with frequent maintenance and technical issues hindering my workflow. Repetitive and irrelevant responses by the assistant to provide focused and relevant information when requested to elaborate. I am opting out!
