This is a disaster of a company. For months they continuously tried to close several of my accounts over and over. They never investigated why this happened or offered any explanation. I got the feeling there isn’t a single employee who knows what they are doing. Usually the responses I get from my messages show a complete lack of financial knowledge. Do yourself a favor and avoid these clowns.

I tried working with Charles Schwab with regards to a trust. Wheb their attorney got involved it started with one delay after another. A year later we were no farther then when we started, he would ask for documentation, we would provide him with the information and it would be weeks (6-8) for him to respond, I final got so frustrated with him I withdraw the money and transfer the trust to another institution. Charles Schwab is not a customer friendly company, it is beyond me how they stay in business. Their attorney wanted paper work that had nothing to do with the trust then asked for people to sign document's that had no association with the trust. It was like he wanted to be the big man on the block. I finally got so frustrated with them (him) I pulled the money from Charles Schwab, that is when they finally called and asked what they could do to maintain the relationship. They cost us, the trust thousands of dollars in attorney fees 14 months of time to no avail. All I can say is stay away from Charles Schwab .

Went through whole process of opening an account and transferring assets from one broker to Schwab and before they completed their application review of my opening of a intelligent portfolio they closed the account thus causing my funds to be held in isolation… very frustrating with the process that they have put me through. After all in good faith I tried to open an account with them and they in turn closed it without even a notice. Very unreliable and untrustworthy.

Not sure if the customer service rep was just having an off-day, but she was incredibly rude, condescending and acted as though it was a huge burden to her that I had called to ask for help...despite her job description. She asked me what I needed help for after I had just explained to her that I couldn't login and could't get a password reset link sent to my phone, despite me explaining that to her very clearly at the beginning of the call. Once I reiterated my reason for calling, she immediately became defensive and turned it on me to make it seem like I had no idea what I was talking about. It was all I could do not to hang up. Leah from Dallas, please pick a different department to work in!

Slow to place orders - antiquated site & mobile needs an upgrade (take a page from Webull). Didn’t get any monetary incentives at all for moving 401k, Roth, Sep ira & personal account over to their horrible platform (and all total well over the average retirement amount). I complained about this and I was told the promotion department would contact me. They never did. Platform is slow and antiquated. Street smart edge is a joke - I tried to place bracket orders on there to no avail. Should have opted for TD (which they bought out) or IB - I need automation because I like to trade not buy and hold (you can’t in today’s market and make any money). As soon as I can move my accounts elsewhere I will. I am stuck with crappy Schwab, since you can only roll your accounts over once per year. They desperately need api access for their retail traders (they have it for big institutions) for algo & semi-automated/automated trading. Don’t even bother downloading Street smart edge, it’s Garbage!!!

They locked up my account, and I can not sue my account either online or offline. And the reason is easy I was trying to make an online transfer and answered one question wrong. However, I don't have chance to pass verification one more time. I have to go to an branch and hand my ID, at this moment, I can not go to an local banch.

When my husband passed away a few years ago, Charles Schwab put me through hell when I was trying consolidate our retirement accounts. My experience with American Funds, on the other hand, was smooth and effortless. Now that I’m 59 1/2 years old and can withdraw from my retirement, Charles Schwab is ONCE AGAIN PUTTING ME THROUGH HELL.

Firstly locked me out of their system and required to fill in everything I sent through their website only in paper, in person. 30 pages. Then kept asking for verification throwing me from one support number to another. Asking for a "utility bill" without ever telling why or what the heck a utility bill is from the point of view. And they don't even accept it online, you have to fax it in 2022. Once you finally fax it and they process it - they reject it because "it isn't the right kind of bill". Well at least I figured that I don't want to do anything with them before I moved my savings there.
