The Charles Schwab website is not showing current up-to-date for Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (BTC) [GBTC] data. When you click on pricing and chart data for GBTC, the site reads "Chart Unavailable", and the "Last Price" is "As of Wednesday, 01/10/2024".
Btw, today is January 16, 2024.
I called Schwab client services and they said it is a data provider issue. And they also could offer no estimate on when the matter would be resolved.
Utterly ridiculous!

$50 fee with no warning!
I have brokerage accounts with TDA and Schwab and when they merged, I wanted to diversify my accounts. I requested a transfer of my brokerage account on the 1 of Dec from Interactive Brokers and Schwab charged me $50 for the transfer with no warning or anything.
When I noticed the $50 loss when I logged into my account in Interactive Brokers today, I called Schwab and they said it was covered in the terms and conditions, which I read carefully last year and I don't recall that fee sheet she showed me on their website. She also said it was too late to cancel the transaction.
Very frustrating and I would not recommend anyone use them.
They could easily email or warn you when you request a transfer but of course they want that $50, so they don't!
TDA I've liked but not sure how they will be now that Schwab bought them so I am moving my money from there as well

Disappointing
I’ve been with Schwab for many years and have noticed a drop in customer service. Late or no replies, 10 days to initiate a transfer, long wait time on hold and having to speak with multiple representatives. I may move all my assets to another institution.

Scwab made it worse for TD users
Why is it that Apps seem to get worse with time? I was a TD-Ameritrade customer, but thanks to M&A I'm now a Schwab customer. The Schwab App is Schit. It is slow. It is incredibly Linear. Maybe if you have just one account it's not so bad, but with 3 accounts, finding your info is a big hassle. The TD App was SO much better. It was fast, had the right info in the right places, and I could see all my accounts at once.

Bait and switch
As part of Schwab's acquisition of TD Ameritrade, 11 of my family's 14 brokerages accounts were migrated to Schwab last month.
The remaining 3 accounts are actively used trading accounts which rely on TDA Ameritrade's ThinkorSwim trading platform. After arrogantly insisting that they would be migrated too, Schwab finally came to their senses and realized they had NO idea how many much people rely on ThinkorSwim, and how little they (Schwab) know about it. These accounts are now slated to migrate in March 2024- when Schwab hopefully gets their act together.
After the initial setup hiccups, annoyingly complicated by their surprising inability to migrate account authorizations from TD Ameritrade, things seemed to have settled down - mainly because these 11 accounts are fairly low-touch. The main gripe I had was that irritatingly pompous and condescending voice on hold, grating out the news, instead of some kind of neutral hold music, or even a more pleasant narration.
Today I found out that they haven't honored the commission structure I had with TD Ameritrade, and am being charged commmission for transactions which used to be free under TD. Not cool, Schwab. I'm thinking of moving the acccounts to Morgan Stanley.

Over 5% loss IRA 2years
I changed jobs 2.5 years ago and have not contributed to my small 18,000 dollar IRA.
I have lost over 5% in the time since I stopped contributing. Seems strange. I am not pleased at all.

I was happy with TD Ameritrade and the…
I was happy with TD Ameritrade and the transition was supposed to be Soooo easy...just get a Schwab log on and that it...NOT. Just spent 30 mins on the phone...19 of which were just for the guy to validate it was me even after being logged on my via PC AND cell phone and reading him everything he asked for proving it was me He said needs to send me a text but it took him 10 mins to get that text to me and told me I would have to visit an office if it didn't come through which is Ridiculous (if he was smart, he wouldn't have said that until I wasn't able to get text as that pissed me off severly). Then I finally get to ask my first question 20 mins into the call asking if I can still use my TD Ameritrade checks...he said no, and that I was sent them a few weeks ago (not true)... transfers me...and next guy says their system didn't show me as activated for checking so they didn't send them (BS... I have always had and used checks on TD for a decade). Further all the links about information for the transition won't load on their site saying PDF download error and I put in a search field a question and it locked up the website and I had to refresh. I am 30 mins into using this company and I already hate them, don't trust their website and now I am still have to do forms for checking and more.
****9/21 Just thought to check that my beneficiary transferred with my account...and NOPE...another ball dropped... thankfully I check or account would have been stuck in probate!

Mis-coding of Account cost me $ 1,500 IRS Fine
I created a Solo 401K with TD Waterhouse years ago, and they were subsequently bought by TD Ameritrade. During this transition, my Solo 401K was mis-coded as a "Flexible 401K". As such, they never notified me on an annual basis (I do my own taxes) that I was required to fill out an IRS 5500-EZ Form, if my balance was greater than $250K. Once the Schwab merger was announced, they admitted to their administrative mis-coding, and my acct was appropriately labeled as a "Solo 401K', and I subsequently received a 5500-EZ Email alert in 2022. I contacted IRS, and they fined me $ 1,500 as a result of my not having filed the 5500-EZ for the prior 9 years. I was incensed at this, but paid the fine, as a challenge with IRS could result in a possible $ 400K fine, if my argument was rejected. I contacted both TD Ameritrade and Schwab about this, and they refused to admit any culpability, with avoidance of the issue entirely. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but TD/Schwab will be losing my business (and several other people I know), due to extremely shoddy administration. Stay far away from these guys!!!
