Charles Schwab started out as the 'used-car-salesman' of the brokerage world and nothing has changed. Incompetence and confusion at every level of customer service. It took me two weeks and more than 2 HOURS of total time on the telephone to get an incoming international wire coming from my own bank overseas to work and register - including two failed attempts that cost me big service charges on the sending end for having to re-credit the money to my original account. And on the third attempt, my name and account number did not register in their system and I had to spend another 30 min on the phone with them! I NEVER had a single problem wiring international money to my old TD Ameritrade account, not in 15 years. I never had to speak to a single person. If they cannot manage such a small transaction, how can they possibly be trusted on a larger level. PLUS, there is no way to choose music or silence while waiting on the phone with them. You are forced to listen to the endless, monotone chatter of a voice bot reading off the day's market news - either 1) a clear hostage-taking of clients to force-feed them with news that just might cause them to make new investments... or at the very least 2) a not-so-subtle negative-incentive to deal with them only by electronic message and never again by phone. Either way, slimy tactics for the financial world. And MOST of all, how can you trust any financial advice from a brokerage firm who is using such a tactic to increase their business? It's a window into the entire corporate culture there. My advice, rename and change the entire company and it's culture and don't let anyone ever know if has anything to do with Schwab Co. Inc.

Before my account was transferred from TD Ameritrade, a rep named David Connor reached out to me asking me to let him know when I`m ready for the transfer. I explained that I`m not ready and I need to transfer a couple of positions out before they disable my trading for up to 3-4 days, in order to make sure I`m not stuck in positions I cannot close out during the transfer. No answer to my email, but two days later they went ahead with the transfer and sure enough disabled my trading access for the duration of the transfer. If I had wanted to close a position, bad luck. Not much they could have done to destroy my trust faster and more completely. Some other things that went wrong: - Charged me $50 for the transfer to which I never agreed. In fact, I didn`t even know why they charged me that amount until reading other reviews here. I had emailed them asking why the amount was deducted from my cash balance but they never bothered responding. - They forgot to mention that after the "seamless" transfer a bunch of real-time data feeds won`t be available and the fundamental analysis part of TOS will be gone - They gave me ~24 hours to download my past statements which are now all gone (again this is after they went ahead with the account transfer after I specifically said they should not yet)

Commingled my employer access with my personal ID and accounts. Thanks Schwab! I really enjoyed the override of my employer's internal controls and having our auditors have access to my personal finances. Awesome job not understanding the basics of fraud prevention! I'd use any other brokerage possible, and transferred out everything I could. This company is the Sterling Foster/Stratton Oakmont of 2024 just waiting to happen.

I am a former TD Ameritrade customer that was forced to move to Schwab. Because of Schwab's prompting, I opted to move to online instead of paper statements. I assumed that was ok because they would retain records for a number of years. I did not realize they would cut off all online access to historical statements and tax statement if you close an account. Because Schwab online site was so difficult to work with, I decided to move my IRAs and designated beneficiary account to another brokerage. I have now lost all online access to my IRAs and brokerage accounts. I am unable to use TurboTax to download tax information automatically. Only by calling by phone was I able to reestablish access to my joint beneficiary account for one day only, but not to my IRA records from Schwab or TDA. The best they could do is overnight paper copies. Moral of the story: don't close an account with Schwab if you want to continue access to account documents. Don't follow their advice to opt for online statements.

not only 1099 comes out late, it changes the date. at first it says feb 2nd, then feb 16th. don't even wanna start with the operation on my app. if its not ameritrade sold to them, I would never go with them.

You name it, Charles Schwab screwed it up. I moved money into Charles Schwab and that was my biggest mistake. I asked them on a recorded line not to take out money out of my checking account to fund my Roth IRA. They did it anyway. Now they've messed up my taxes and when I called them on it they pretend that they can't hear me and disconnect the call. This ploy they used over and over and over with me. Do yourself a favor and find another company other than Charles Schwab.

I have been with TD Ameritrade for 20 years. I was mostly satisfied with their trading platform, despite the fees. Schwab gobbled up TD Ameritrade and ruined the mobile app. Recently initiated a funds transfer from Schwab to my bank, and somehow the thinkorswim app flipped accounts around, so money got pulled from my bank into Schwab account instead. Have had paperless statements selected, since the transition, yet they still mail me statements. During the transition, I could not trade for nearly a week. After three strikes, since they cannot seem to follow instructions, I will fix this money transfer, then take my money elsewhere.
