Awful
Do not give your things to this terrible company!!! They broke a large piece of furniture, a family heirloom, and took absolutely no responsibility for not packing it properly. This is absolutely a cash grab operation!!!

You actually do not give a shit about your performance as I have complained loudly to anyone at Schumacher who I could get a hold of regarding the import of my Mercedes GL450 to Portugal. You pulled a bait and switch, yelled at and blamed me for your colloidal ineptness, your customer, when there were issues importing my vehicle. The epic failure left my vehicle returning to the US, AT MY COST having been in a container for 9 months. This is totally unacceptable and now that the vehicle is no longer in your possession you can expect to hear from my attorneys for the $50,000 epic failure for you to do any part of your job. There are a ton are horrific reviews out there, that I didn’t see before trusting you with this part of my relocation. I don’t expect you will care about this one either.

I had used Schumacher logistics twice in the past for cross-Atlantic moves. I was very happy with their service both times, so I chose them again. I took no insurance out because i did not think I needed to protect myself ...from them. I chose the option with packaging by them, to make sure all was done and packaged properly (meaning: I paid extra for this). They came to my place, packed up everything and left with all the items that needed moving. Nothing was left in my apartment. Among these items was a vintage industrial fan that was quite valuable, a valuable coffee table, a valuable desk, and a valuable couch. First, they took all these items apart without asking first (I did not see them do it, otherwise I would have stopped them). I signed a sheet saying that they removed 35 boxes from my home. Upon delivery to my new home, I signed a sheet acknowledging receipt of 35 boxes. I immediately unpacked everything the same day and realized that the coffee table, the desk and the couch had been damaged (a few broken glasses also, but that can always happen). Most importantly, the foot of the industrial fan was missing entirely. I reached out to them, explaining that the damage to the items was not that important to me but that the missing foot of the fan was something I deeply cared about. First, they apologized and said they would reimburse me. But then another person reached out, said I took no insurance out and that, as a result, they could not do anything further to help. Now mind you, why would anyone take out an insurance to protect themselves from a moving company? Insurance is there to cover unpredictable things, like loss at sea for instance. After I told them that I would sue them, they finally agreed to at least try to locate the foot. After waiting a while, I followed up with them. Their answer was that they were not able to locate the foot. No offer for indemnification, although, surely, they have an insurance policy that would have assisted in indemnifying me (but their premiums, most liekly, wold ahve gone up as a result). Now this foot has been removed by them and clearly lost by them, since I shipped and received the same number of boxes. They tried to blame it on the company that delivered the boxes to me (they worked with another local company to deliver from the port of entry to my home). They did this despite the fact that it was clearly their mistake. They did not care at all. Be careful with your valuables, this company does not seem to care neither about your goods nor about you - kind of counter intuitive for a moving company. I hope this helps someone out there!

Based on my experience with Schumacher Cargo Logistics, I cannot recommend this company for an international household move. I hired a company specializing in international relocation specifically because I expected them to understand the process, coordinate all the different parties involved, communicate clearly, provide accurate information, and make an already complicated international move easier. Unfortunately, my experience has been almost the complete opposite. The biggest problem throughout this move has been the lack of communication, follow-up, accountability, and accurate information. I have repeatedly found myself having to chase Schumacher for answers and trying to resolve issues that should have been proactively managed by the company I hired and paid to handle this move. One of the most unbelievable situations involved items from our household move being left behind without anyone contacting us to ask which items we wanted or were willing to leave. These are our personal belongings. If everything could not fit, the obvious and professional procedure would have been to contact us, explain the situation, and allow us—the owners—to decide what should stay and what should go. Instead, that decision was apparently made without our involvement. We were then left trying to determine exactly what had been left behind. I still find it extremely difficult to understand how anyone handling a professional household move could believe that deciding which of a customer's personal belongings to leave behind, without first speaking with the customer, was an acceptable course of action. There have also been serious communication problems surrounding the Bill of Lading, shipping information, routing, documentation, and expected timeline. Information we received later did not correspond with what we had originally been provided, creating even more confusion during an international move where accurate documentation, routing, and timing are critical. Then I learned that the local agent responsible for handling the process at destination apparently had not been paid, creating yet another potential problem that could affect the processing and delivery of our shipment. As the customer, I should not have to discover these problems myself or continuously follow up to make sure the different parties involved in completing the move are actually communicating and coordinated. We have also dealt with questions regarding charges that were not clearly explained beforehand, discrepancies involving services or items appearing on invoices, and repeated situations where communication and follow-up only seem to happen after I initiate another email or request for information. What makes this particularly disappointing is that this was not an inexpensive move. We hired Schumacher Cargo Logistics because international shipping and relocation are supposedly their area of expertise. When a customer is spending a substantial amount of money for a professional international moving service, they should not have to become the project manager of their own relocation. Problems can happen in international logistics. Ships can be delayed, customs requirements can change, and unexpected circumstances can arise. My issue is not simply that problems occurred. It is the way those problems have been communicated, handled, and followed up on. When something goes wrong, I expect proactive communication, accurate information, accountability, and a clear plan for resolving the issue. That has consistently not been my experience with Schumacher Cargo Logistics. At this point, the amount of time I have personally spent sending emails, requesting clarification, correcting information, following up on unresolved issues, and simply trying to determine what is actually happening with our belongings is completely unacceptable. I hired an international relocation company so they would manage this process—not so I would have to manage them. Our move is still in progress, and I intend to update this review once our belongings are finally delivered and the entire process is complete. However, based on everything I have experienced to date, I would not recommend Schumacher Cargo Logistics to anyone considering an international household move. This is not a matter of telling potential customers to "do their research" or "ask the right questions" before hiring them. I did my research. I hired what i believed was an experienced international shipping company precisely to avoid these types of problems. A customer should not need to anticipate every possible failure, continuously chase a company for information. I would absolute choose another company.

Took about 2 months to deliver boxes to my apartment after they arrived in USA. I had to follow up so many times. Also tried to charge me extra. definitely not happy.

The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced! Lost two of our most expensive items then basically told us good luck finding them.

Nightmare. Schumacher was very difficult to deal with, added delays and caused unnecessary aggravation. Their inaction posed potentially $10,000 in waivable demurrage fees. I think that they knew they could get the fees waived but either simply did not want to or thought they could get those fees waived by Hapag Lloyd after we paid them the balance. Ultimately we resolved the issue directly with Hapag Lloyd and US customs. Schumacher, whom we paid to guide us through the process, was consistently a boat anchor to our efforts. They delayed, did not communicate and provided inaccurate information. To add insult, Hapag Lloyd contacted us q month later about an overdue fee. They had billed Schumacher. We paid Schumacher. Schumacher never paid Hapag Lloyd. Only after several calls did Schumacher agree that we had paid them, and paid HL on our behalf. Avoid them. They are either incompetent, lazy, deceptive, or all three.
