I HAVE BEEN WITH SANTANDER FOR YEARS NOW, AND NOT ONCE HAVE THEY HELPED WITH MY ENQUIRES?
The money is mine in my account no? so why am I not able to transfer my money when my mobile banking is blocked and noone on the customer service can help?
I will be leaving Santander, and will not allow a single person I know work with them. Bunch of liars

Absolutely appalling and disgusting company hated by even its own staff.
Ok. So I originally banked with Abbey and in 2007 moved to Alliance in Leicester. I then moved to Santander in 2010 but over time my overdraft crept up to £1750.
In 2013 I tried to move to another bank but was told that I could not as I had an existing loan with Santander and needed to pay it off, also the overdraft first and could not transfer the debt to the new bank, even through they were happy to accept it.
I managed the account and moved anyway to HSBC. Much better service and no problems.
In 2015 I raised a complaint and upon moving to HSBC spoke with the Worcester branch manager. We agreed that £1000 was all that was needed to pay and also that the account would be frozen.
In Dec 2015 I closed my business account with Santander and then found that interest was still being applied to the overdraft, despite the fact that the account had been frozen. I raised a formal complaint.
It seems that I 'fell between the cracks' in their system - I was diligent enough to still service any interest acrued but not a severe case as to alert their credit control team as was a 'diligent payer' and did not go over the overdraft.
10 months ago I again raised my concerns and had been told that a formal complaint had been conducted and no action was to be taken. If I was not happy I was advised to take my complaint to the Ombudsman. (Like that would help!)
Today I paid off the overdraft (£1688.02, approx £688.02 of which was excess overdraft interest applied after the account closure). Santander would not let me pay with my HSBC VISA at the counter, neither could I withdraw the cash by their ATM. I had to go to HSBC and manually walk £1688.02 over from HSBC in cash to Santander. I was then kept waiting for 1 hour whilst the staff tried to close the account,
I was then told that there was a further £27 interest (as Santander work one month in advance on interest) to pay. I also paid this with available cash and eventually got to leave.
I shook the senior cashier's hand - she was clearly more disgusted with Santander than I was.
PS: I understand that in the Banking world people like myself, diligent payers, are referred to as 'Zombies'.
Just saying.

Keep setting up alerts if I approach my credit card limit and they keep cancelling them without telling me. Made a complaint and they told me they have set them up again so will be fine. I asked them to look into this further as it's already happened 4 times. They said no as it's hypothetical it won't work this time. I said it's based on the evidence that it's already happened 4 times. They had no interest and couldn't care less. Was like talking to a brick wall. Shouldn't have wasted my time! Much better service else where.

Breach of complaints procedure, and still told to wait 4 weeks!
I registered a complaint 3 months ago whereby 6 defaults had been placed on my credit file, despite not being advised of this and entering in to an arrangement which I paid on time,. every time and early.
It is now 3 months later, and I am no further forward, the complaints team allegedly ring me to discuss, yet let it ring once, not allowing me to answer the phone! I have wasted so much time and money chasing them, so frustrating.
Completely goes against their complaints philosophy 'we'll do everything we can to resolve your concern quickly and fairly" absolute rubbish! This is having an adverse effect on my credit file through no fault of my own. Appalling customer service.
DO NOT USE THIS BANK!
I HAVE HAD 3 UPHELD COMPLAINTS WITH THEM.
Brand image and reputation clearly means nothing.

Money hungry company that does not care about its customers
Originally, I started with sovereign before it became Santander. It was not too bad. When overdraft protect came my first thought was hey this company actually cares if I don't want to go under if I use my card so I applied for that and was happy when my card declined without realizing I was low on funds. Then, changes happened. the one day , my card was declined and I was like ok I'll check what I have for my funds and saw that I was $70 in the red. I called customer service asking why I was in the red since I have overdraft protection and the only response I get was "You do not have overdraft protection". I was furious because the fact was I did have it. At the time that this happened I was only a teen fresh out of high school getting ready for college.
So I did not have much of a paycheck from my job. That is practically half of my pay going in to pay for that overdraft. For only paying like $3 for each thing I bought. So if you think about it, I bought something for $3 and had to pay $35 extra for it. This was not like I was buying something outrageous . Now, around this time Santander started taking over sovereign and this incident happened. I was in college now and my parents and I moved to a new place so I had to change my address with Santander. So I was talking with customer service and explained my situation and I was being asked questions that I had no clue about. I was being asked what my loans are that I was paying and I was like the only loans I have are my school loans since I was at college. After the questions were done I requested a new card because my old one was expiring soon. So, about two weeks later, I got my new card in and I needed to buy some clothes for college.
I got there and right away my card was declined. I had money in my account so I didn't know what happened. Later on, I checked my card and my name was on the card but, the middle initial was different. I thought that was weird. The next day, before calling Santander, I got my new information from the change of address. I saw my name on it and opened it up and saw my statement and account information and on the statement , it had a balance that really didn't sound correct at all. It was to high of a balance to be for a college kid. Looking at the full name yet again, the middle initial was different and then realized they gave me someone else's bank information. I was distraught because I was not sure what to say or do neither did my parents. so I called customer service again and explained what happened and all I hear was "Oh that is ok" I was not expecting such a response for having someone's important information. At the time I didn't know the best response so I requested that my account was changed to the correct address and have my new bank card sent in.
Had I thought of it at the time, I would of asked if my own account was in jeopardy since if that happened with someone else's account. How do I know that did not happen with mine. Finally, another weird thing that happened to me was I got a job after being out of college now so I moved to be closer to it. I am not near any Santander banks in my area so I have to use ATMs. I expected to get a $3 charge from the atm I used, then on my statement I had another $3 charge. Come to find out, my bank charged me the $3 charge on top of the other bank charging me $3. Now, yet again I had to make sure I request to get paperless statements because no one wants to afford to pay for paper.
Like why is it so hard to find a place where I can keep my money stored and take it when need it without worrying about banks trying everything they can to get money in their pockets. I understand people that work need to get payed but this is ridiculous to go as far as finding many ways to charge customers. To top it all off I don't even get notification to go under by overdraft. Or my favorite part, watching this bank cash a check early than its intended date with the hopes of the customer going under. I am sorry but, the vey chance I get, I am leaving this bank for good. I did not have a bank so I can watch my account shrink to nothing with all these charges nor will I stand by and hope that my account info is not sent to someone else since they clearly displayed how much they care about important information.

absolute bonkers
Horrible horrible service; been left standing in the cold one too many times; absolutely haunting. Exceptionally unintelligent way of banking. The visa top up debit card also just doesn't work sometimes. When you're standing at the till with plenty of funds in the account; very often the santander card just doesn't work. The app doesn't function on wifi connections often either. it's the worst bank I've ever been with.

Santander phone banking security overkill
Been with Santander since it was Abbey for many years and have many products with them, but of late, their failures are beyond the pale. After a recent ISA matured, they transferred thousands into another bank we have accounts in without authorisation and after extensive investigation, couldn't trace things back to the source of the authorising individual. The latest fiasco still sees us locked out of our current account after buying a vehicle and paying by phone bank transfer. The first we knew of the problem came when we tried to pay for another item online with our card, which was declined. On phoning, we were asked all the security questions and all answered correctly, but were still told card was blocked and we couldn't access it. Despite phoning cust serv and raising complaints, security ignored us and wouldn't speak. We were told things would be sorted in a few hours. Some 36 hrs later and after wasting many hours on the phone, card and account is locked. We have been given no reason why our account is locked. It's really unbelievable that this kind of treatment is being dished out with no real reason apart from absolute security overkill and paranoia. It's now reached a point with Santander wherein we are investigating alternative arrangements and removing our custom completely. We are in the middle of a business transaction and face the loss of a purchase should this situation continue and this really is untenable.
Update 3rd Aug 2016. Rang bank at 8:15 am. Being passed from pillar to post again. Asked the same security questions and giving details of recent transactions, all ok, but payment still not sanctioned and account still frozen with no explanation but "unusual activity" which is ridiculous because we have sanctioned this payment and answered all relevant security questions. Santander have seized our account and our money with no justifiable reason.
We are keeping detailed records of this problem and once resolved, if ever, will be escalating it to the highest levels with as much public exposure as possible. Banking security is essential, but this level of bad service and incompetency is not on.
The current state of affairs is once again being told someone will call us back, but with no time scale.
Update: Santander security called at 9:05, some 45 hours after blocking access to our account, admitting this should have been sorted a long time ago.
We will never use Santander phone banking for transactions again and would advise others to be very wary of this service.
We will now be escalating this to the highest levels in Santander and will keep this review active and updated.
As for this bank; we are taking serious steps to find alternative arrangements re our finances. Santander deserve every bit of bad press they get over their services regarding their security overkill and paranoid stance over matters that should take, literally, minutes to sort out. Please stay tuned for updates and watch out for further reviews also to be posted on other review platform by searching "Dog with a bone" "Fordaascam"
