Do not let this company convince you that you need a water filtration system. They installed one in my home along with a “softener” and it has completely ruined my daughter’s 4c hair. Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT let them touch your water system. They will also no call no show multiple times on you when you call them to come fix a problem. Don’t trust this company with your house. It’s not worth it.

Roto Rooter Lack of Quality Services
On 2/10/2025, my kitchen sink started to back up. I tried Drano, plunger, etc.… but nothing worked, I texted my plumber but couldn’t reach him and the water level was rising, so I called Roto Rooter. They texted me at 5:03 pm that the technician would arrive in 30-45 minutes, he arrived around 7 pm. The technician entered the kitchen, and I asked him if the drain issue would have anything to do with my low pressure in kitchen faucet (I know nothing about plumbing or drains, they are supposed to be the experts), he turned on the water and said, wow that pressure is low. He looked under the sink, turned some knobs and the water turned off and won’t turn back on. He said, “Sorry I am not a plumber, I am a drain technician.” Why wouldn’t you tell me that before you started messing with the knobs. He stated that he called his dispatcher and told them I needed them to send a plumber ($99 fee). So, he proceeded to tell me that to snake the drain, it would cost $499 (for a 15–20-minute job), I told him, I can’t do $499, he said he could do it for $300. I agreed. While he was snaking the drain, my original plumber texted me that he could do it for $125, unfortunately, Roto Rooter had already started the work, so I was stuck with the $300 charge. My plumber said Roto Rooter is one of the more expensive companies. If they are going to be that expensive, they could at least provide quality work.
I called the customer service number at 281-399-4983 and asked to speak to a manager, I was told that a report will be submitted and the on-call manager will call me before the evening was over. At 7:32pm CST, I received a call from the on-call manager (couldn’t understand her name), she stated that she spoke to the drain technician, and he confirmed that I had low pressure water flow when he arrived and now, I have NO water flow. 1:01 minutes into the conversation she (the on-call manager) agreed to waive the $99 fee, I am waiting for the plumber now, supposedly 30-45 minutes, let’s hope it’s not 3 hours again.
When I asked the manager why they are so expensive, she stated that it’s a corporate decision, I suggested they reassess their business model, because to be more than 3 times the industry average for the area, is wrong.
Times are hard and having to give up large sums of cash for services that are offered at a lower rate, makes me feel like I am being taken advantage of.

WORST PLUMBING COMPANY IN HOUSTON
WORST PLUMBING COMPANY IN HOUSTON! Do not use Roto-Rooter under any circumstance. We were over charged $300 dollars for a service where the technician completed nothing. I called 8 times and never received a refund. Everyone from the manager level to the customer service were hostile, yelled, and horrible to work with. DO NOT USE!

The worst company ever
The worst company ever. It's been 2 weeks and I still hav a torn up garage that may or may not be water free. No damage report. No word on who will pay for the additional damage created by their service providers. The entire MD branch is incompetent. Nobody returns calls or emails and just pass your complaint around from one person to the next. I would have learned how to fix my own water damage by now.

Dishoest, shotty work
If I could give less than one star, I would. I highly caution anyone looking for a sewer line replacement or any project requiring excavation. Roto Rooter caused a huge nightmare for me. They failed to get the project inspected, which caused the need to redo the project. That means they had to excavate my yard a second time due to shotty work the first time. It took them over three months to complete the job. They broke several electrical lines, left dead shrubbery in my yard, broke my landscaping lights, and left various debris on my property. The management clearly doesn't know what they are doing. Two managers gaslit me several times, manipulating the situation. The general manager clearly doesn't care because he never returned my emails or calls. These guys are not trustworthy and cause more harm than good. They are also very overpriced. Please think twice before hiring them. There are much better companies with integrity out there. It goes without saying that I would NEVER recommend this terrible company.

Avoid Roto Rooter at All Costs
Avoid Roto Rooter at All Costs: A Cautionary Tale of Fraud, Deception, and Bullying
If you’re considering Roto Rooter for your plumbing or mitigation needs, think again. My experience with the
Newark, NJ branch of this company has been nothing short of a nightmare—a masterclass in deceptive practices,
inflated charges, and blatant disregard for customer service or accountability.
The Nightmare Begins
On 12/4/24, I contacted Roto Rooter for what I assumed would be routine service—a clogged pipe in my basement.
What followed was an outrageous sequence of events that culminated in thousands of dollars in unnecessary charges,
threats of collections, and utter frustration.
Trumped-Up Charges and Manipulation
The technician started with a sky-high estimate of $30,000, a figure I immediately questioned. Despite my protests, I
was assured this was “just a range” and not to be concerned:
“I’m sending you the contract. Don’t be scared with the price—it’s just a range because I didn’t go there. It’s
just a number we put. We can always go down, never up. But you’re covered by insurance.”
This was a blatant lie. I was told they needed to “exact the water” and clean the walls to prevent mold. However, by
the evening of 12/5/24, the basement was in worse condition than before! The clogged pipe remained untouched, and
the flooding had escalated.
The $27,000 Cleanup That Achieved Nothing
When I raised concerns, Roto Rooter sent two additional plumbers, one of whom claimed the issue was a broken pipe
beneath the sidewalk. This supposed “specialist” insisted that a $13,000 repair would be required on top of the
$27,000 mitigation fee and the $1,872 water removal charge.
When I asked for photographic evidence of the broken pipe, he admitted he had none but demanded I “trust him.”
His exact words!
“It’s okay because we will pump out the water; the pipe won’t get worse, I promise.”
I knew something was wrong. Instead of falling for this outrageous scam, I contacted a smaller plumber I had used
before. Within a day, they completed the mitigation, water removal, and pipe inspection for just $1,000. The result;
No broken pipe, no further flooding, and no $13,000 charge.
Roto Rooter’s Response: Excuses and Gaslighting
When I confronted Roto Rooter with this information, their response was appalling. Emails to their representative
(Hdioro) went unanswered. When they finally responded, they offered nothing but a generic apology,
dismissing my concerns with this infuriating excuse:
“You keep bringing up the estimated pricing for $13k, but it was NOT charged to you. It was mentioned, and
you have no invoice for this amount!”
This is a textbook case of gaslighting. The fact that I avoided being charged the $13,000 doesn’t erase their attempt to
defraud me—or the $27,000 they still charged for a service that failed to resolve the issue.
Bullying Tactics and Threats
To make matters worse, Roto Rooter has resorted to harassment. They are now threatening to report me to
collections and ruin my credit if I don’t pay the full bill immediately. One representative even wrote:
“Please know that with the signed contract, I am liable to collect the payment due.”
This kind of bullying is unacceptable. No customer should be subjected to threats after exposing fraudulent
practices.
A Final Warning to Future Customers
My experience with Roto Rooter is not just about financial loss—it’s about a company exploiting homeowners in
vulnerable situations. Their targeting of certain communities and reliance on inflated charges, false claims, and
intimidation is deeply troubling.
I am taking action. My attorney will be reaching out shortly, and I will ensure my story is heard across every
possible outlet. I’ll be posting reviews on Google, Yelp, the Better Business Bureau, and social media. News
networks will also be contacted.
To those considering Roto Rooter: Avoid this company at all costs. Their actions are unethical, their services
subpar, and their customer treatment abhorrent. Let my story serve as a warning to unsuspecting homeowners
everywhere.
Photos of the damage and documentation of this debacle will be provided so potential customers can see for
themselves what $27,000 of “service” from Roto Rooter looks like.
Roto Rooter: Your bullying won’t work, and your fraudulent practices won’t go unchallenged.

Bad plumbers, good gaslighters
I guess they deserve one star for showing up? I needed service on a Saturday and set up a non emergency appointment online at like 7:30AM (requested 8 AM to 10 AM) and the guy was there a little after 11:30AM. I ended up overpaying ($615) for a main line cleaning, while their tech tried to gaslight me into financing $12,000 for a full excavation, while telling me details about the system which were completely wrong and trying to convince me I couldn't trust or wait for my family's plumber on this because he and his camera were so great.
