Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain ServiceReviews of rotorooter.com

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. It was ROTO ROOTER Water Restoration in Livonia MI Our basement flooded overnight and we called multiple companies ASAP. They were the first to reach out so we went with them. They overcharge on every single thing they do. They falsify charges. There were 10 items on my bill (that they would not provide until all the work is complete, the workers just kept saying my boss will provide an itemized bill when all the work is complete) for work that they never even did. I emptied my entire basement before they got there, yet they charged me 112.39 for Large Room Content move out and reset, 56.26 for Small Room Content move out and reset and another 112.39 for Large Room Content move out and reset. They charged me 106.88 to block and pad furniture - there was no furniture in the basement. They charged me 308.81 to clean floors, which they never did, as a matter of fact they left a mess on the floor everywhere, I took pictures to prove it. They charged me 176.04 to haul away debris, yet they hauled nothing away, everything I took out of the basement that was ruined was still sitting in my garage or on the side of my house. Then when you try to call them they always claim the person you need to talk to is busy and in a meeting. It took us 10 phone calls to get to talk to someone who then claimed they would look into it. We still have not heard back from this person. This company is a complete fraud and should be shut down.

Back in the day Roto Rooter charged by the hour. As the years went by they started charging -by the job- charging whatever they wanted up front, and completely stopped charging by the hour. I've used them in every scenario and the charges started going way, way up. Today, they are repairing some leaking piping under the house. It will take 3-4 hours they say. Guess what they're charging? 4 grand!

I have used Roto-Rooter in the past. The service has generally been acceptable. Nothing great, but good enough (if over-priced). This most recent time was unacceptably bad. I called because of a serious problem with a disposal. I called in the early evening and was told that a plumber could not come out until the next day. Roto-Rooter's scheduler gave me a window of between 2:00 and 6:00. In my view, this time frame is already excessive, but it is common in this industry. At about 2:45, Roto-Rooter called to tell me "they hadn't forgotten about me" and would call when the plumber left his job. I appreciated the update. By 5:45, I heard nothing, so I called. I was sent to "dispatch," who then told me the plumber would not be able to arrive for at least another three hours. Dispatch said there was nothing he could do and was wholly unapologetic. I called the main number. The person there said she couldn't do anything other than take my complaint to "the office," which was closed. Looking back, it seems the "update" call at 2:45 was nothing more than a call to keep me from calling someone else, which I certainly would have done had they said that, rather than arriving between 2 and 6, they wouldn't get to my house until 9:00 at night (or later). Unacceptable. Poor customer service. Unapologetic. I will avoid this company in the future.

BEWARE of this company - THEY THIRD-PARTY SUBCONTRACT WITHOUT INFORMING THEIR CUSTOMERS. I never write reviews but have to alert potential customers to our experience with this Roto-Rooter. The plumber who performed the assessment was lovely and seemed capable so we decided to go with them, also because of their reputation. The person we initially dealt with was not who did the work we were not informed that our work was going to be subcontracted out to another company. The basement apartment where the work was done was left a complete mess, mud on walls, the ceiling, throughout the apartment. They did nothing to contain their mess. It was shocking to see. Additionally they left all of their mess and debris in our front yard for over a week. They left mud all over our front porch and bannister when they ate lunch there. The plumbers didn’t flush out the drains properly resulting in a lingering smell of sewage in the apartment for at least 10 days. We had to fix the drain issue ourselves after performing internet research on how to do this. We complained to the Roto-Rooter and they agreed to reimburse us $200 as a cleaning fee. 8 weeks later the money has still not been refunded and now my calls are screened and messages not returned. The contact I was dealing with told me I am not the only customer to make complaints about the company they subcontracted the work out to. So he knows it is an issue. Which is even more maddening. STAY AWAY FROM ROTO-ROOTER THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED. There are many other good and trustworthy plumbers out there.

I didn’t even want to give this company one star smh!! They suck here in Fayetteville GA!!! I called someone out to my house last Sunday to snake my toilet because it was backed up!! Well $712.00 later the problem with my toilet not flushing and my shower not draining is happening again! I called Roto-Rooters Saturday aug 28 2021 at 6p, they tell me someone would call me and give me an ETA!!! Well guess what no one called, so i called back and they finally sent out an email advising they would be here between 7p-9p!!!! Well no one ever called at 8:30 to let me know they were on their way!! So I call again by this time, I had already called 4 times!! The dispatcher tells me that they are running behind and that the agent would be a little late. I called two more times and finally at 11:05 they tell me the guy is on his way!!! It is now midnight and this is my 7th time calling them and he’s like I can call the agent and see where he’s at or I can schedule for someone to come between 8a-10a… what the hell! I am very angry at this point!!! I said why didn’t you all just give me a courtesy call in the first place and reschedule, why did I have to call you guys so much and be up late waiting for someone to come to my house!! I am ready to get in my bed and go to sleep!!! Yes schedule it for the morning!! He apologized and I was so angry that I just hung up in his face! after my warranty is up, I am never ever using these people again.. Going back and forth with a company for 6 hrs is ridiculous. It was supposed to be dispatched as an emergency and clearly it was not! This is ridiculous and unacceptable.. i hope the owner of this company sees this and gives me my money back because what they did last Sunday was not worth 712 anyway.. yaull did not fix the problem.. it shouldn’t be backed up again

They did the work. They changed the sump pump and left Poo Poo water residue on the floor. The worst part isn’t that. That’s nothing. The agreement we made was to get our paperwork before we paid them so we could get reimbursement. Guess what? They got paid and I got no forms. Never pay them until they give you what you want. EVER. HIRE SOME ONE ELSE

Do not work with them. We were clearly just a number and their customer service is a joke. They said the work would would be entirely covered by insurance after reviewing our policy, 2 months later we received a really rude phone call saying they were talking legal action out of the blue. Additionally - They multiple times did not call us back - One person in the middle of the reasonable conversation hung up on us when we asked them to review the history on our account. - They didn't show up when they were scheduled - Way overpriced - Some had very hard to understand English.

BEWARE! Everyone that works at this company or franchise is rude and arrogant and liars! Scam! Outrageous! The guy that came to our house and wanted to charge over $400 to cable drains left caps off the drains in the yard. It took him effort to get them off. One of them sits in a puddle of water from a leaking hose which I was using to power wash the front of the house. He had to put gloves on to remove the cap. At that point the water was just below the drain. He removed another cap which took effort. He just set both caps on and didn't push them on. I even asked him about it and he said they won’t go anywhere. Well, THEY DID! He cabled the one where the puddle develops when you use the hose because of the leak. He told three of us that it was clear to the fence. Ya, because the homeowner had snaked them all before he went in the hospital. It was clear! Right after he left, my son came and said all the water is backing into the shower (in the addition which is where we have trouble - not there). I went back and found that cap off and mud filled it and backed up into our house. We never had a back up like this. Now we had mud back up into our house. The call center was rude. The supervisors were rude. The leader of the area, Sharon, didn’t care what was done to us. The supervisor was nasty and arrogant. So they sent a master plumber out this morning.....leaving us like this thru the night. The first guy out lied and said he put the caps on and I saw. Yep, and I asked about them. Liars! So the master plumber came out, which I now have on video and a witness......arrogant. Had no intentions of doing anything. Coincidentally, the first guy said it needs a hydro jet which is over $1300. Guess what? What he did to us now needs a hydrojet. We didn’t have this problem and what is up with how he put those caps on? I have the master plumber on video with my son trying to tell him what I was and he kept making me repeat it with his hands folded and an arrogant look on his face. They all keep saying the first guy said he couldn’t get the clog. That was at the addition. Not this pipe! They ruined our home and made it worse and are now lying and rude and arrogant. BEWARE OF ROTO ROOTER! This was the Livonia franchise. When they screw you, you will learn what I did. All the way to corporate. The leader of the franchises in the area. Everyone there. Terrible. Horrible people.
