Great coop - good materials, superb instructions for assembling. Not so sure about the watering station, if the birds which are used to going to a ground watering station can figure out how to look up. Still waiting to see.

Thanks for the kind words, Patrick. Very happy to hear that instructions were helpful. We put a lot of time into that process.
Chickens are pretty amazing birds! I'm confident they will get accustomed to the new watering system. If you need any tips, please feel free to reach out.

City Slickers get Chickens
We wanted to share the experience of raising chickens with our two young children and do so in an urban setting (first time for the whole family). We wanted a well constructed chicken coup that would possibly stand for many years in coastal southern California and one that looks good in our child friendly back yard. I would say Roost and Roots delivered.
Their Round-Top Walk-In coup went together fast and I only needed brief help in relocating the main frame after asembling it on a mostly level concrete patio. I am competent at using battery powered hand tools (I only used an impact driver, ocassional drill for pilot holes, some clamps, and a level) and assembled it with ease. However, the assembly instructions could be enhanced by better pointing out the particular positions each panel should be in, when assembling them into the larger structure. The proper orientation of each panel gets confusing even though the diagrams are designed well and multi-dimentionally. Some panels can be installed in what seems to be the correct position, according to the diagram, but find out at a later stage that some predrilled holes are on the wrong end. I had to remove and flip various panels to correct. Also not all panels or wooden coup components were labeled, which would slow down the assembly process some, as I sorted through them. One could ignore the predrilled holes and leave them exposed but this could make the wood vulnerable to premature insect or water damage.
But overall, with some prerequisite skill with assembling wooden structures, it went very smooth.
I added on the waterer and feeder which are simplistically designed (less potential points of failure) and seem very efficent to me, but I have yet to use them.
The price of the coup, even after the apparent 40 something percent off sale price, seemed high at first, but knowing the costs of wood currently, and the quality behind the handmade construction, which would have taken me much much longer to design and build, is well worth the price in my opinion.
The coup was sent from Texas to California via UPS freight. It was delayed by almost 2 weeks. Glad I didnt have birds already. But it was delayed due to an unprecedented late winter storm...very understandable. However UPS package tracking showed that the product had arrived locally and a delivery date was coordinated with the reciever (me). This was totally unture. During the process they never coordinated a delivery with me. Okay fine. I called Roost and Roots during my delivery confusion and spoke to a kind employee who said they would investigate and respond to me, but they never followed up. I was a little disappointed but not worthy of a lower customer rating. I ended up with lots of transfering and waiting while trying to get my problem resolved directly with the shipping company.
We think the assembled coup looks great and the kids want to live in it. Chickens coming soon!

We love our walk-in Chicken Coop
We love our walk-in Chicken Coop! Everything came as described. It was fairly easy to construct. On our site we we’re having to do some leveling, otherwise it would have been a breeze.
We highly recommend Roost&Root if you’re shopping for one.

I was so impressed with their customer service. I had waited 5 months for a chicken coop from WS that they had to keep delaying and then I finally canceled it and bought a similarly priced one from Roost&Root that turned out to be better. The best part was that it arrived in 2-3 weeks. My hens have really taken to it and I love that I can stand in it and store supplies in there. Great product and great service.

Thanks for the kind words, Steve.
Our customer service is included in the price of your coop! I'm biased but I think we have the best in the business.

We've had our round top coop for almost 3 years. We moved it from Pa to NY on a trailer when we relocated and have now built an attached run. Never any problems with latches of enclosure. It has been preditor resistant to foxes, oppossoms, coyotes, and hawks. I'm sure it will last for many years

Thank you for leaving the review, Kathleen!
Happy that your coop has made it to three years strong. Let us know when it makes it to 10!

I purchased two coops and am very happy with them. The quality is very good on both coops. My only reason for giving only four stars is on the pick up. We live local so I asked a friend to pick the coops up directly for us since we didn’t have a vehicle that could hold everything. We thought both coops would be packed in two kits, similar to the pictures on your website. Instead, all the parts were just stacked in the bed of our friend’s truck. That turned a real mess when we unpacked it at our house - there was no easy way to tell what parts went with which coop. That took extra time when we were ready to build - separating each part ( piece of wood) into a pile for each coop. I am confused why the kits weren’t left combined.

Thank you for the compliments on the coop, John. I'm happy to hear that you are pleased with the product.
I am sorry for the confusion on the panels. We state in the e-mail about the pick up process that the coops will not be packed as we typically do for shipment. We will review that documentation to make sure that it is as clear as possible.
Glad you were able to get everything squared away. I hope your birds are happy.
