Roommates.comReviews of roommate.com

I made the mistake of signing up for their $20 per month deal. I started to receive replies to my post. When I responded back EACH and EVERY one of them were removed for violating some kind of policy issue. Again, EACH and EVERY one of them. Stay away.

Wish I had read reviews. They are spot on. STAY AWAY.. close this down. Only contacts are from scammers that get deleted quickly.

I have been trying to rent out half of my place to someone else to share. Every single person has been either a new Nigerian scam to steal or someone that just completely flakes or does not follow up after expressing interest. I thought this was safer because people had to spend money to participate. Waste of time!

This app/site creates fake users who will message you. They will create profiles of attractive people to send you a message. Then, you are not able to view their message unless you pay a fee. Once you pay the fee and try to read the message, the user is inactive due to violating policy. Every guy will get a message from Amanda, sometimes Amanda K, sometimes another letter. Do not use it! It is all fake users to trap you for a paid subscription!

If I could give it zero stars I would . Each and every person that has contacted me has tried to get that deposit before I can see the property and they blame it on Covid 19 . One lady said she was a nurse and never had time to show me the property but she kept asking questions about my children and my stuff and then I got a text a few days later saying that some one would kill me and my daughter and that he/she is a professional kidnapper and they wanted me to text them back . It was the worst 5$ ever spent . All the pictures of the properties that are on the website are all pictures of rooms and apartments that have never been lived in, the people say that properties are fully furnished and what not. Another thing I didn’t like is if they already have the property secured why do they need a down payment like I’m entering the lease with them? I’m ok with a first and last but they want a deposit too? I might as well get my own damn apartment ! Roommate.com is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE . I would never in a million years recommend that to anybody

From what I can see, there are no room listings and if you list your room, you're sent a list of possible matches, but none of these supposed matches actually write you about being interested in your available room. It seems more like a social networking site, so you can meet new friends you might like to live with one day or do anything else with. It's just a bunch or people wasting each other's time and nothing is getting rented. Which is fine, unless you're actually in need of a place to live or searching for a roommate today instead of a roommate fantasy site.

Zero stars if possible. The only interest I EVER received through them were the scammers. “Hi I’m so and so, my Mom is French but I am from Wisconsin and I speak English”. “My father will need your information as he is sending check so you know I am interested “. “I am finishing my masters research in the field and am not near a cell coverage”. The list goes on. BEWARE. Don’t pay for this bogus service.

Roommate, com seems to be a scam. I posted an ad looking for a roommate on craigslist. Soon after, I was bombard with emails from roommates.com. I decided to give it a try. It is a total scam. You are asked to become a VIP to see the description of the "potential" match. Once you pay, the other person is not even a match. They need a room in a different location or a different move in date. You are asked to pay for every potential match. Stay away from this website. I am thinking about reporting the site to the consumer protection agency.
