Dr. Paul lieber in Pittsburgh has helped tremendously with my back pain. I have been a difficult patient with multiple pathologies making it difficult to pinpoint the primary pain producer, not uncommon in spine pain. I could not stand for more than 10 minutes and suffered with spasms that were debilitating. I had extensive prp prolotherapy for my ligaments and stem cell treatment in my facets, three levels, bilateral. I teach dancing and have been able to resume working. I will always have a touchy back but my function is tremendously improved. It takes months and the improvements are gradual but one day I realized I didn't have to sit down or lie flat but could keep working. Not a quick fix.

A Leap of Faith
I had stem cells injected in Dallas, TX in both mid-feet (October 2018) and PRPs one month later (December 2018). My feet were shot from years of ballet, running, walking, dancing, figure skating, etc. There isn't alot on the internet about this problem so for me it was a leap of faith. I got opinions from a rheumatologist, podiatrist, orthopedic surgeon, and also had acupuncture. I had bad arthritis and joint degeneration, and my mid feet were all swollen. The only treatments were anti inflammatory pills and cream, and cortisone injections in the joint. There is a horrible surgery that fuses your entire mid foot together with screws which makes me shudder when I look at the photos of the procedure on the internet. I am only 62 and enjoy an active life and I was not ready to be immobilized and taking meds for the rest of my life. I can honestly say that 6 months post procedure my feet have improved 80%. They are not 22 year old ballet feet but I can walk in regular shoes without constant pain. You should follow the protocol closely, take the vitamins/herbs/supplements they recommend, no smoking or hard liquor, exercise, etc. I haven't taken any meds except tylenol and the vitamins/supplements that are recommended. Also, i got NO information or encouragement about stem cells from the orthopedist, podiatrist, or rheumatologist. SO MUCH for putting the patient's needs first! I think the other doctors don't want to encourage you to try stem cells because they want to make the $$ and keep you coming back. Also, other be prepared for other people to be resistant because they won't spend the money. They would prefer to be in pain or have surgery because the insurance company will pay for some of it. I am glad to have my OWN feet working again and no surgery or metal in my body. I will do it again as other parts of my body wear out. The office in Dallas is located in a beautiful building but you have to walk down three long halls to get to it. I could hardly walk to the car after both procedures and was in serious pain. They should have an employee with a wheelchair available to wheel you to the garage door so you can climb into your car with a minimum of pain and movement. This is why I did not give them 5 stars.

I had stem cell treatment on my arthritic hands. I had lost a lot of use in my hands prior to stem cell. I can do so much more now. There are some actions that cause discomfort but I am no longer in continuous pain. The only complaint I have is the long wait at the office.

My MD told me I may not experience any improvement in my knee for up to 4-6 months, up to that time frame, the knee was very stiff ( still is ) and very sore from the procedure. At the 6 month mark I did see dramatic improvement - far more range of motion, far less pain, but that daily nagging pain was almost gone. Now, 9 mos later, my knee is only OK, I still have stiffness, it gets sore when I've been active ( walking ) BUT, it is an improvement from what it was in April 2018. I have been an advocate for this procedure with many of my friends and I am hoping I have avoided a future knee replacement, which was always my main objective. My grade for this experience with Regenexx , B-

Very satisfied w/ Dr. Centeno
I was very satisfied with Dr. Centeno and the results of the procedure (5 stars for results). My knee improved quickly and I am still able to function with very little pain. I would recommend Regenexx to anyone with my symptoms. Dr. Centeno's analysis was brilliant and he was able to see a deeper problem that other doctors missed.
My concerns:
1. The procedure that was recommended was a bone marrow stem cell draw and re-injection into my knee and back. However without discussion, the procedure I received was a PRP blood draw and re-injection. I prepaid the higher price for the bone marrow procedure and there was no refund.
2. I was left in the room forgotten and without guidance or information after the blood draw for an hour and fifteen minutes.. This did not allow enough time for me to eat and allow the two hours required prior to the procedure in the event that anesthetics were needed. It was not needed. The operation went well.

Severe activity limiting hip pain
I had visited the clinic for severe arthritis pain in right hip. After reviews of MRI showed severe arthritis in right hip and some involvement in left hip as well and degenerative discs in my lower spine L4-5 and L5-S1- Dr Williams suggested PRP injections for the spine and indicated potential for moderate success with R hip pain using Stem cells. I had the procedures in February 2018 with some additional Stem cell injection to the Left hip as well and the Right hip pain has been significantly reduced needing only Tylenol 1-2 x daily and has given me the ability to sleep at night. Initially the spinal injections seemed to be successful as I couldn't believe how much better my back felt when I really didn't even know I had a problem- the physical therapy I pursued after treatment at another non related facility closer to home seemed to help both hip and spine until a fill-in therapist hurt my back after 3 months of improvement - I may have to have additional spinal injections at some point. I am very pleased with Dr Williams and the clinic and have recommended this treatment to others.
