Here we go again! I rented a power bank for my phone in Manhattan NY in March 2026. I returned the device within the allotted time and thought that was the end of our transaction. In July of 2026 I realized Recharge City had been charging my card $19.99 every month for 4 months! I went through TrustPilot and The Better Business Bureau to get my money refunded and any connection with Recharge City severed in exchange for taking down my bad review. All was well. Now in October of 2026, this cockroach of a company Recharge City is once again trying to withdraw $19.99 from my account!!! I now have to freeze my account and take time off work to get this resolved yet again. Don’t even think about renting a device from these scammers!

I was charged 80$ despite trying to cancel my membership several times. This is shocking that a company can scam you like this. Every time i reach out to customer support its a robot that cant locate my account.. if you can't locate my account, how are you charging me $80?

I used a Recharge City kiosk for what I understood to be a one-time portable phone charger rental, paying an initial fee of $10.88. However, it was not made clear during the transaction process that I was signing up for an ongoing subscription. As a result, I was automatically enrolled in a monthly billing cycle and charged $19.99 per month for 10 consecutive months, totaling $199.90. Managing or canceling this charge is very difficult because the company does not list a customer support phone number or a support email address on their public website. Instead, the system requires you to use their mobile app to handle billing issues. If you do not have or use the app, finding a way to stop the charges is incredibly challenging.

If you're in the city a lot the subscription is worth it imo but I always cancel mine before traveling and then sign up again when I get back.

Thanks for sharing, Fred! We're glad the subscription works well for you and makes staying charged around the city a little easier 💚

I had to pay for an hour for $10 when I was in New York City and it was really slow to charge. I was at a restaurant and I had finished my meal and it only charged 25%. Then a week later after my visit to NY, I checked my credit card and saw another charge for $10 and another charge for $2110 so I had to cancel my card.

Hi, Lynette. We apologize for the situation; please provide your contact details in response to the Trustpilot request. We would like to assist you and look into this matter.

Forced me to download a barely functioning application instead of allowing me to process it through a website. After I downloaded the app, the payment process didn’t even let me put my card info in. Complete waste of my time and battery.

Hi, Soup. You might have confused us with another company? Our app is working correctly.
