I had a great experience with Real Genius in the beginning. Very competitive rates and responsive to emails. Unfortunately we missed our closing date because Real Genius was not informed that we wouldn't have sod for a new build that was finishing in February. This was never asked beforehand and only came into question at the final appraisal which was one day before closing. Then when we were told we could close the following day by paying for the sod upfront into an escrow account, it got caught up in underwriting most of the day and cleared to close in late afternoon. Then after having wired the money and we signed all our papers at Title Company, the lender continued holding funds and not releasing... It was nearly 5pm and the entire closing almost fell through AGAIN, until the lenders sent over two final papers to sign. We closed at 4:57pm officially. It does not help that the lender was in a different time zone and when funding was being withheld, we couldn't get anybody on the phone. Overall we secured a great rate and missed closing by one day. It was almost missed by 2 days except the funding department released the wire transfer at the last minute. Extremely nerve-wracking for what should have been a straightforward close.

Fully enjoyed interaction with loan officer Greg C. who was my first contact during the loan process, great rates. The follow on experience getting the documents in place and getting to approval was horrendous. The digital platform was useless, interaction with follow on employee was chaotic - no next steps explained, cutting really short on timeline (understood it's part of the loan process at the end, however, there could be proactive explanations instead of having the loaner to chase every piece of update). the follow on employee also sent an email requesting documents then immediately goes on vacation, giving me no choice to verify or inquire about the documents needed, back-up was not mentioned in the email. I had to escalate to Greg for help several times. Had used another lender before, the process was much smoother - their digital platform was not perfect, but there's always human interaction to help. Suggesting Consumer Direct Mortgage engage in better process/employee training.

It started out well, but went downhill as we were passed to different people!

It started off great. We got a great rate and fees. And generally it was fine but there always seems to be a disconnect between the Loan Processor, underwriter and borrower. Our were fully documented loans. We gave them everything they asked for but then they asked for non-sensical items. When I asked about why, the LP just said, that's what they need. For example, we gave them the IRS documents which showed that we extended our taxes. Gave them the payment information and confirmation information. We did it on-line. But they asked for the form. Even the IRS says you choose one of 3 ways and not to submit a form if you do it on-line. But the LP asks me to look in my emails to see if I missed it. What the heck? I know what I filed. LP is checking off boxes w/o understanding requirements. The underwriters have no accountability because they never have to face questions by the borrower. The LP did it again near the end of our lock period. Asked for something ridiculous. I then talked to the Senior Loan Officer and suddenly, there's nothing he can do. I was able to get a hold of someone from customer service and she stepped in and got the loans closed. Why?! Why do they make it so hard? It is so frustrated and left a very bad impression. It's like they enjoy making things hard just to make it hard. We gave them everything they needed. They just needed to look at things with common sense.

Great rates and extremely competitive closing/loan fees. Initial rep was wonderful. As we got closer to closing different reps were involved and attention to detail was not there along with changing info. depending on who we spoke to. We ended up refinancing more than what we needed because the figures we were given were incorrect of the amount we needed to bring to closing and also our payoff amount. Also, the title company did not honor our signed request of sending our credit card payment directly to the creditor instead they sent it to us which resulted in us having to pay the bill online since there was no time to mail it on time.

I got a good rate. Easy to submit loan application, but I had to keep calling to get status, and, if I remember correctly, at least 2-3 times was asked to re-submit documents because the previous ones had expired.

The first time I used Consumer Direct it was a Great expierence, not so this last time. I did take the fact that we were in the middle of a Pandemic, but that being said, it was Barely a 3 star. The crowning touch was the person who showed up to notorize, she called and said she would be there within the hour, really short notice. She arrived with No mask, spent all of 10 to 15 min., there was no explanations of anything, least being that there is a clause that if you have used the same Title Co you may be eligable for a break on payments. I did not know about this till recently, probably too late for me.

It was a good experience at the beginning. Right after the first mortgage payment I made, my loan was sold to another company. For about 60 days I didn’t know who I was supposed to pay my mortgage, the frustrating part was that I started to receive letters threatening me with imposing late charges. I was kept on guessing who was my lender. First bank and the new lander wanted to get paid at the same time and the reps were very rude. I had made a substantial extra payment towards my principal and no one knew went it was. It was finally deposited with the new company after 90 days, no interest was refunded for having a higher balance owed and no interest was added to the amount withheld for 90 days. If I’m offered another loan from the same outfit, I’ll refused to do it right away and with out a doubt, will never put my trust on these people. Very inappropriate way of doing business. I passed this comments to Costco, the company that send me to deal with this landers.
