My child has been participating in Reading Programs since she was a preschooler. She has taken classes online, as well as in person, through the program. I am in awe of how strong she has become as a reader. Her fluency has jumped leaps and bounds, especially over the last year. Though my child is entering first grade, she is reading on a second grade level. I know this is due largely in part to the Institute of Reading Development. Their instruction has supplemented what she has learned in school, if not expanded her traditional school lessons. I am so thankful that I found this program and I look forward to my child continuing.

The reading program was great for my daughter. She is supposed to be going into kindergarten but we decided to put her in the 1st grade class. Although some things were a little difficult for her, she learned a lot &, more importantly, her love for reading grew. She really loved the activities & lessons online that she could do between classes.

My son really enjoyed the class. We are still reading the books we received and he is making progress on sounding out simple words!

I would recommend this course to anyone who has a child struggling to read.

My daughter is having this Reading Programs since kinder garden, which was summer before class started at this time she was already reading books. Really make me happy because provided to her confidence in other curriculum areas. Now she is 5th grade and wait with enthusiastic for her summer reading classes.

I initially had some concerns about this course preparing my soon to be 5th grader for the upcoming challenges of the next grade level. However, if you have any concern, please reach out to the program. My son has had extra help with fluency from his reading teacher and a private zoom lesson with the writing coach. They will go out of their way to make sure that they can do everything that is possible in the 5 week period to help support your child with the content. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because when I first called customer service, the person pretended to be a curriculum specialist and did not have the credentials to discuss my specific concerns about the length of writing that students are asked to complete, the level of rigor of the quiz questions, or written the assignments. She also could not answer my questions as to how they measure student success with the program. As a teacher, I have some suggestions about how to better align the curriculum with what is happening in the modern-day classroom, such as reading multiple texts and being required to cite evidence. However, this program is designed as a reading development program, and I feel that it is helping my children build a stronger foundation for reading. My 4 year old loves "bookman" and "wordy", and is beginning to read CVC words. Every person involved has been extremely responsive to my questions and understand what is like to be a concerned parent and a customer.

Great program to prepare my students for the next grade level.

Enrolled due to my daughter's Kindergarten teacher unable to tell the difference between a kid that is just young and immature to understand concepts for her age or a learning disability. Programs like this prey on parent's insecurities. Enrolled and due to situation beyond our control (i.e. active duty Navy parent change of duty station and realization that daughter was just educationally immature for her grade level) decided to withdraw. Apparently timing is the devil in the details of their fine print. No refunds, even after filing a complaint with the BBB, just a credit for something we don't need anymore. Do yourself a favor and take a close look at other programs such as ABCmouse or just work with your child yourself. Trust me, as an adult with a college education, you can figure it out and help your child yourself without the need of outside help from this company. Hopefully the COVID19 pandemic takes this business out because they taking people's money in order to stay afloat.
