My family recently went on a trip with Quasar Expeditions to Quito, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Everything about the trip from the planning to the tours and everything else was handled with the utmost professionalism. Any questions or requests we had were taken care of to make our trip as fun and memorable as possible. Everyone involved went above and beyond. I would definitely recommend Quasar and would love to travel with them again.

The experience on the boat was great. The captain and crew where amazing. Can’t say enough about how smooth things went on the boat. Great food and amazing crew. However, the travel process was not great. It seemed to be geared towards making pickup/delivery by quasar easy rather than ease for the customer. There were better flight options if individually booked rather than dealing with absurd layovers when booked through quasar. For example we were dropped off at airport in Galápagos Islands hours before we could even check in. Other than the travel I have no complaints and it was amazing.

While Quasar owns and operates two amazing yachts, the Grace and the Evolution, we are not yet in a position to operate our own airline flying 737 Boeing Jets, or their airbus equivalent, required to make the 2-hour flight from the mainland to the Galapagos. As we send so many passengers to the Galapagos it is in the interest of our passengers that we find the airline that is the most reliable, offers schedules best suited to mesh with our yacht itineraries (arriving at the right time and serving both airports in the Galapagos), as well as other factors such as connecting with flights to Peru for Mach Picchu, offers good value and will allow us to do things like ship over the fresh produce with our passengers that makes our menus so inviting. To that end, and based on these and other factors, we have chosen to work with Avianca. Avianca is equal to or better than one of the two other carries and far better than the third. We know this from over 30 years of experience. As mentioned, we of course don’t own the airline and therefore cannot manage factors such as delayed flights due unexpected airport closings, but we have found that Avianca is the most reliable for our purposes and those of our passengers and when problems arises, Avianca is also the most accommodating and flexible. Typically, we ask passengers to arrive at the airport an hour and a half prior to departure. Again, based on 30 years plus of experience, Quasar has found that it is the ideal time to begin arriving prior to departure, given that passengers must pass through a Galapagos agricultural inspection, in addition to regular security inspection, as well as getting checked on by our staff with their luggage. Of course we also leave enough time for a buffer to be able to assist passengers to get to the airport in case of breakdowns and traffic. Keep in mind that once our group arrives in the Galapagos, our yachts must set out on their prescribed National Park itinerary. Therefore it is essential that passengers arrive at the airport in time to make their flight, as catching up with the yacht once it leaves can be extremely difficult and sometimes not possible until a number of days have gone by. We know airlines are not perfect, and we have all had our experiences with them, but based on Quasar’s long experience, we don’t think there is currently a better alternative serving the Galapagos for our departures. Thank you for traveling with us! Thank you, The Quasar Expeditions' Management Team

Our trip to Ecuador was amazing. Quasar did an excellent job of organizing our transfers and booking us into Mashpi and the Evolution. Both experiences exceeded our expectations. In particular, the Evolution was clean, safe and well-organized. The crew was courteous and hard working. Our wildlife encounters were incredible. We would highly recommend this adventure!
