We definitely understand it can be frustrating when a claim is not approved. Like most providers, we do not provide coverage for pre-existing conditions. This means that if something occurs, or was showing signs or symptoms prior to enrollment or during the waiting period, it would not be eligible for coverage. This includes conditions that are related to, secondary, or resultant from a pre-existing condition. Once a claim is filed, it is then processed by a Pumpkin claims team member, all of which have a veterinary medical background. Our claims team uses medical records and documentation provided by your veterinarian in order to determine coverage eligibility. Hi Deborah, and thank you for your feedback. We completely understand your concerns around your pets pre-existing condition and how that affects coverage. As pet parents ourselves, we know how stressful managing an illness or injury can be. As with most pet insurance, we have some exclusions, such as pre-existing conditions. These are conditions that occur before coverage begins or during a waiting period, so anything that was present prior to your pet's coverage being in place would be excluded from coverage.

It is not insurance, but an optional add-on plan that can be added to an insurance policy for an additional cost. We designed Preventive Essentials for cats + kittens, dogs, and puppies based on their unique needs – any of which can be added to your insurance plan when you enroll. Hi! We completely understand your frustration around rate increases. We are required to provide updated policy documents typically 60 prior to an insurance policy renewal. These updated policy documents will include any pricing for an upcoming term. Keep in mind, that if you have elected to be enrolled in paperless then those documents are available within your online customer portal. If you do have any question about your rate or policy please do not hesitate to reach out to our customer service team!

As for spay and neuter our insuracne policies would not cover that since it is a preventive surgery.
