Hi Wendy! Filing a claim is super easy, 100% digital, and requires zero paperwork. Simply log in to your account on pumpkin.care and click 'Home'. There you can click "Start a claim or estimate" under your pet's name. From there, follow the prompts to enter your claim details, upload a copy of your itemized vet bill, and submit. Please note that if you have multiple invoices, they will need to be submitted as separate claims! Our claims team will process your claim and update you once our review is complete. You can also track the status of your claim anytime via your account under “Claims”. Prefer filling out a claim the old fashion way? No problem. You can download a paper claim form from your account online and print it. Once you fill it out – simply email the form along with the itemized bill from your vet to [email protected].

We definitely understand it can be frustrating when a claim is not approved. Like most providers, we do not provide coverage for pre-existing conditions. This means that if something occurs, or was showing signs or symptoms prior to enrollment or during the waiting period, it would not be eligible for coverage. This includes conditions that are related to, secondary, or resultant from a pre-existing condition. Once a claim is filed, it is then processed by a Pumpkin claims team member, all of which have a veterinary medical background. Our claims team uses medical records and documentation provided by your veterinarian in order to determine coverage eligibility. Keep in mind that while we may not be able to offer coverage for pre-existing issues, new unrelated accidents or illnesses may be eligible for coverage. For instance, certain breeds may be more susceptible to hereditary or congenital conditions, and the probability of medical problems increases with age. Moreover, the geographic region also affects the cost of premiums. The average usage and expenses of veterinary care in the United States are considered, including veterinary inflation due to equipment improvements, medication, and other factors. Like home or auto insurance, your premiums are influenced by factors specific to your region (zip code), which could cause them to be higher or lower than those of your friends or family in different areas.
