I had asked to cancel my membership 3 days before my free trial was up and they went ahead and charged my credit card the full 79$
then when I sent an email asking why the response was an offer for a discounted membership and if i didn't respond they would cancel my membership but they went ahead and charged my cred card.

Fraudulent company
Fraudulent company. I made a purchase in 2020 and received an 80$ ‘membership fee’ four years later. I never signed up for this. I’ve seen others make this complaint but I guess the company deletes negative reviews and spams review sites.

No integrity, can't trust reviews or quality anymore
I'm a founding lifetime member at PG, this means I don't pay an annual fee. I bought flatware that had a defect. I sent pictures with the finish chipped from a single handwash, and was told the following verbatim: "Before anything else, please note that we only accept returns for unused and unopened item/s with the original packaging within 14 days of receiving them." I read their refund policy and NO WHERE does it say the items must be unopened, not to mention the return policy for defective items is 30 days. I cannot fathom why a membership-only company would start their return request emails with "before anything else" and then a misleading statement of their refund policy. After haggling (their first offer was store credit), I accepted a full refund which I will now check in 5 days to see if it is received. I will then make an attempt at cancelling my lifetime membership because frankly I've lost all trust in this company after 20 transactions over the lifetime of my membership. I asked for an escalation and not only did I not get to speak to anyone else, but nobody addressed my concerns about quality, the poor initial response I got, and the integrity of their service.
PG, if you do not have integrity, you will fail to keep and attract customers because your demographic are people who can afford your direct competitor's membership fees, who care about the planet, the quality of their products, and that they can trust that if they need to return something, their interaction would be reasonable and honest.

Won’t end charges for membership…
I keep getting charged for a membership and told via email my membership is canceled and customer service will not call me to get this sorted out.

Beware the Annual Membership Fees!
I received an email stating my $89 membership had been renewed - that must have been shuffled in among their ad campaign for years. I have not purchased anything from this company in a very long time. And yes, they refunded the $80, but I am out many more $80 with no benefit. Be aware!

Public Goods now charging for unwanted memberships
Public Goods now requires a membership to order things. I don't know when this was added. I ordered a number of things from them about 4 years ago, and have ordered nothing since. They recently created a membership account for me and then charged me $79 (on an expired credit card) for my new membership without asking me to authorize this charge or even to let me know why they were charging me. The bank flagged this as suspicious activity, asked me if I had authorized it, to which I said no, and the bank cancelled my credit card. Unbelievable! I will never order anything from Public Goods again.

They charge an annual membership to…
They charge an annual membership to make purchases that I didn’t even know I signed up for. I made one purchase one year ago and got hit with an annual fee which came with no renewal reminder email, sleazy company.

They don’t tell you they’re going to…
They don’t tell you they’re going to charge you $79 a year for a “membership”! Scam alert! I’m trying to get my $79 bucks back. Let’s see what happens!
Update, I was notified they will refund me the membership that they surreptitiously charged me for! Buyer beware!

Hi Jodie,
We apologize for any confusion regarding our membership. Membership begins at checkout with a free 14-day trial, and then $79/annually. Memberships can be canceled at any time.
I saw that you reached out to our CS team yesterday, and we have already canceled and refunded your membership.
