Predatory unsolicited auto-enrollment. The only positive I have to share is the customer rep refunded my money within 48 hours. However, Public Goods is a very predatory company. I ordered from them in 2021. In December 2024 they "auto-renewed" my account. No prior email alert or request. They have done this to dozens if not hundreds or thousands of others. You can see it on Reddit. I would absolutely engage in a class action lawsuit. Disgusting behavior from a company that attempts to portray itself as a friendly business. Insults galore.

I made a purchase back in 2021 during a free trial. The small print somewhere must have stated that they can use then use my credit card for an annual, auto renewing membership. They have charged me annually, for 4 years now, and I had no idea. I understand that I need better book keeping to catch this sooner, but I have never received any notifications from Public Goods, notifying me that I have an annual membership. No emails, no nothing. They refuse to refund me.

Fraud plain and simple. Charge for membership even when you cancel

I cancelled my membership a year ago. A year later, I got a renewal charge on my credit card. I disputed it with my credit card company and reached out to publicgoods.com. They sent me an acknowledgement of their mistake and said they'd fix it. Then I got an email from publicgoods.com saying they couldn't refund me my money because the credit card company had a dispute on the charge. A month ago, my credit card company removed the dispute and I let publicgoods.com know the dispute was removed and now they could refund me. Radio silence from publicgoods.com. I reached out to them again 3 days later and again a week later and a week after that. I'm now about to be charged interest on the $79 charge from publicgoods.com that they still haven't refunded after nearly a month. I've had to literally go above and beyond with my credit card company to prove they're trying to charge me for something in error. I don't recommend doing any business with them.

I ordered a single thing from them in 2020, and since then they've been surreptitiously charging my card an $80 membership fee, with no notifications or signs that I was being charged until there was a fraud alert from my bank. Upon contacting them, they refused a refund and insisted this was part of their policy. Their policy is to scam people out of their money using shady 'membership' practices.

Terrible, charged membership fee which i didn't subscribe to and wouldn't refund. already submitted complaints to FTC, attorney general, and will use my lawyer thru my employer to get the money back.
