I am told I have free membership but for 2 years I get charged. I called a few months ago and was told the membership is free. I was charged on May 2. When asking for a refund I was told I had a free membership and the ticket was closed. There is no number to call. I think this company keeps telling you there is a free membership and charge you anyway. I sure hope I can get a refund. If at first you do not succeed try try again

It's a bummer because the products are actually pretty decent. So in 2002, I purchased a package of their products to test. Haven't repurchased or been to their website nothing since then. Then two weeks ago I get a fraud alert from Chase Bank that there's a charge for $79 from these guys. I didn't recognize it so of course I said yes this is fraud. This is a pain in the ass because then they have to send me out a new card. I contact the company and ask, why are you charging me $80 out of the blue. Then they explained that supposedly in 2002 when I purchased my order I had also "opted in for an annual membership" If that's the case, why was I not charged in 2003 and 2004? I reached out to their customer service and they had some wishy-washy answers so I just decided to stop wasting my time. This was a absolute horrible decision and whoever made the decision to try to capture some extra capital by attempting to steal people's money should be fired immediately. They are putting a good company's products in harm's way because thousands of bad reviews are bound to come in with this completely unethical business practice!

I didn’t choose anything from Public goods! I bought something several years ago, during the pandemic, and was not a member. Suddenly last month they claimed I had signed up for a trial membership and now owed a renewal fee. I checked my records and confirmed I was not a member and never signed up for anything. It took several contacts by email and chat and I could never reach a human, but they did eventually cancel the nonexistent membership and reverse the charge. Now of course I would never buy anything from them again to avoid this hassle.

I received a $79 charge nearly a year later after making a one time purchase for an annual membership. I was given no prior notice of this. I only received an email about it the day I got charged. Absolutely a scam and I'm surprised they've gotten away with this considering how common of a complaint this has been.

Public Goods automatically enrolled and charged me $79 for an annual membership without my consent nor do i have any records of being notified about new memberships. When i asked to cancel membership and be refunded i was then prompted to enroll in a different membership instead of honoring the initial request to cancel the membership i never enrolled in. I'm in shock this is allowable. This is some very unethical business practices and dark patterns. Wont be shopping here ever again.

I received an email confirming that I had signed up for a "membership", having not visited this webpage in 5 years. It took 6 emails for the representative to agree to revert the charge, with a lot of arguments that I had "signed up" as part of a recent purchase, which was never made.

A year after I cancelled my membership (which they don't warn you is about to renew), they charged my credit card AGAIN the $79 membership fee. How is this legal? This time I got a fraud alert and now have already started the process of cancelling my card and getting a new one. There is also no way to remove your own credit card information from your account. All you can do is update to a different payment form, and they don't make it easy.

Unauthorized charges for a membership I did not sign up for. 4 years with no notification or emails, just silently charged to my credit card. They would not refund.
