I was signed up for a membership which I did not sign up for. This was not clear during checkout, and if I hadn’t read the confirmation email carefully then I would have been charged more than twice the cost of the goods I purchased. It seems like such a scam - why don’t they just offer two pricing tiers so that people who want a membership may choose to take it out.

Greenwashing scam site at its finest. They will sneakily charge “membership” of $79 a few weeks after your order arrives. Although they did refund this. Unfortunately the products I received were utter trash. Lotion bottles with badly fitting pumps that seemed worse than if I’d bought from Target. Clearly not designed to be sustainable high quality like the price and marketing suggests. Their cleaning spray is completely ineffective and smells of a very perfumey Jasmin as opposed to a clean fresh scent. What’s worse is despite paying for the spray bottle it actually wasn’t glass but plastic. The refill is also plastic. Their walnut scrubbing pads are paper thin and ineffective. I contacted them to let them know and they refused a return. Shady company exploiting people who want to feel like their being sustainable.

As close to a scam as there is. Buy anything and they automatically charge a membership fee and won't let you delete your payment info. Basically a gym membership model for low quality wasteful consumer products. Way to go VCs!!! Way to go Morgan Hirsh and Michael Ferchak!! "Make it affordable" means "scam people"?

Public Goods does state upfront they will charge you $79 for a yearly membership - it’s not in huge letters, but it’s there. However, once they have your credit card info, good luck cancelling. I tried to cancel about 6 months after I joined - I was just not impressed (except the spicy Bloody Mary mix - 5 stars for that) and thought I really thought I’d successfully canceled but then I saw 6 months later they’d charged me again. I wrote to customer support, I never heard back but they re-subscribed me to the mailing list.

I’d give them zero stars. This company is a scam. Don’t order anything from them ~ they will charge you $79 two weeks after your purchase!!!!

Complete scam of a company with their automatic $79 “membership” charged 2 weeks after purchasing products. They should be shut down.

Not transparent. We bought a few things several months ago. Today my son and I both saw separate charges without any warning. Not an honest company.

Public Goods are stealing people's money. They offer a sample for a few dollars and take your credit card information then charge you for a membership at 79$ that you never knew you were signing up for!! They are stealing!! I was charged 163$ and had no idea that they had signed me up for an account. I did not consent to sign up for a membership, nowhere did it say that I would be signing up for anything, and to top it off, they never even sent the sample!!! They said it was out of stock and then stole my money!!!! It's sick and it's happening to countless people!! When I tried to sign in it said no account was connected to my email. How can they be charging me for a membership when I don't even have an account!! It's sneaky and awful and I want to see action taken.
