The courses were easy to follow and work through. I liked that there were lots of essays to practice on, so I could feel confident about proofreading essays.

This course is challenging. It will test you. It may even bring you to tears at times, but it is worth it! You will walk away knowing you have a skill.

Although the content of the course modules are thorough, there needs to be more resources for how to land that first job other than creating a website. Knowledge is great, but you need experience to even get that first job opportunity. After I completed and passed the course, I felt lost and didn't know where to start. Still looking for that first editing opportunity!

You keep asking me to rate, so here it is. I passed the final four months ago and did all I was told to and have not secured even one proofreading job. I literally almost lost my life giving plasma to pay for this course, and for what? Sure, I can write better, but I have bills to pay, and this hasn’t helped that at all. The course itself is frustrating. There are no teachers or answer keys. You have to teach yourself and rely on other students in the Facebook group to hopefully figure out the right answers. That in itself is ridiculous. There is a key with “suggested” right answers, but a lot of those answers were incorrect and were changed midway through the course. A lot of students struggled with that. Also, there are additional materials most students need to supplement the course material that increases the expense. Rumor has it that some actually find decent gainful employment from this course, but many of us haven’t. So I have no other choice but to discourage prospective students from taking this course, unless you want to proofread for a hobby. Update In reply to Proofread Anywhere’s reply: You don’t know if I’ve added my profile to hireaproofreader or not. That’s number one. Number two, your reply to just about anyone calling you out on here is to point the finger back at the reviewer as if we haven’t tried hard enough. Per my original review, I’ve taken the steps your program guides one to take! It’s up to YOU to not false advertise that their are so many jobs, and that if we follow the program we’ll get hired! But nice blaming the customer for something that I already said in my review that I have done. And finally, it does not go unnoticed that you didn’t reply to any of the other honest remarks I made about your failure to actually teach and be organized in your program. In fact, you coming back on here to tell me to email you for an additional resource, which YOU should have already provided, speaks volumes on that and it’s only the tip of the iceberg. Every word of my original review still stands!

Very thorough and informative. They continue to update the course with new relevant information. I felt well prepared to begin my proofreading career after taking the course, and I still reference the marketing and next steps modules from time to time. Highly recommend!

The information was presented clearly and logically. I would suggest adding a lesson on suggested methods or techniques to actually proofread a document; the step by step process. I felt it was the one thing lacking.

This course challenged me and I feel like I gained a new skill. It took more time than I anticipated to finish but I really appreciate the extensive practice.

This General Proofreading course is very rigorous but provides many practice opportunities. In addition to rigorous content, the course helps students become professional proofreaders by including modules that teach new practitioners how to set up their businesses, find clients, manage their time, and be prepared to deal with business-related taxes. It's an excellent course--worth every penny!
