Overall the dress we purchased for our daughter to wear to prom was beautiful. The style was exactly what we expected, and so was the fit. The fabric was high quality, and I was able to easily iron it for her, without any issues! Unfortunately, if I had not known how to sew, it would have been a disaster. First the hem had to be taken in, the dress was too long, which was fine and to be expected. However, when I started pinning the hem I discovered that the hem length wasn't the same from one side of the dress to the other, there was about a 3" discrepancy. This was an easy fix, but disappointing. Also, after trying the dress on only once the seam holding the zipper in place popped, and the plastic piping (similar to an underwire in a bra) forming the waist/torso of the dress had cut through the fabric and was sticking out! First I fixed the popped seam on the zipper, then I moved on to the plastic piping. I had to cut off the end, because it was so sharp, and push it back into the dress and whip-stitch the end. In the end everything turned out. But clearly I didn't order a dress, spending over $350, to spend 4 hrs fixing it. Hemming is one thing, mending a brand new dress is another. Our daughter looked absolutely stunning, and because of that I'm giving them 4 stars. If it were based solely on the defects the dress came with, I would give them 2 stars. If there had been no defects, I would give them 5 stars.
