I tried Pretty Litter for a fussy cat…
I tried Pretty Litter for a fussy cat that stopped using clay litter and used the closet instead. It was expensive but i bought it, loved it and so did my cat! I had bought it at Walmart, but went to the Pretty Litter website to reorder because it "was cheaper". When the bag arrived, it was only 6 lbs - not the 8 lb bag at Walmart. I had it on autoship, got 2 more bags until i saw a similar crystal health management litter at Walmart for $17.97 for an 8 lb bag instead of $24 for a 6 lb bag from the Pretty Littrr website! I spent nearly 2 hours on their website chat box asking why they shipped a 6# bag instead of 8#. Reply came that the retail stores wanted it, but 6 # is more than enough for a 1 month supply. I did the calculations for price per pound for Walmart 8# bag vs Pretty Litter's direct ship 6# bag and the new option at Walmart for $17.97 for 8# bag which was cheapest by far. The agent offered a discount and no handling fee, but it was still more money, and they would not price match. So i canceled my subscription - 3 different questions popped up asking if i really wanted to cancel and i said yes each time. Then a 20% discount off my next 3 orders was offered if i would stay with the program, so i said yes. The price looked great. Until the screen refreshed and added the $1.98 hzndling fee back in! So i asked the agent what happened to my order with no handling fee? She replied that was on 1 bag only, but since i was ordering 3 shipments @20% discount, that fee would now apply again. So i canceled the total order & autoship. I will buy the new competing one at Walmart or Chewy for $17.96/8 lb bag over their retail price of $27 for 8 lb bag of Pretty Litter. The Pretty is great, but now there are many options. The deceptive marketing practices of Pretty Litter corporate and substituting a 6 lb bag in place of 8 lb bag without disclosing this or specifying the weight on the order page should be illegal in my book of transparent marketing. BUYER BEWARE - you will pay $4.00/lb if ordering through their website ($24.00 for 6 lb bag) but only $3.43/lb at Walmart ($27.98) for Pretty Litter and at Chewy it's $26.99 ($3.29/lb). They offered to ship "2 bags every 8 weeks, giving me a total of 12 lbs, and waive the $1.99 handling fee. ". That was even a deceptive way of presenting - she neglected to mention the total would be $44 - $3.66/lb. !! Still higher than Walmart, Chewy, Target, etc. That's when i told her to cancel the order and she offered "20% off my next 3 orders to help lower the cost." I had already gotten that offer through the online cancellation, but when the screen refreshed, she had added in the $1.99/ handling fee. So that increased the price per bag by $2... No reason to buy direct from Pretty Litter and pay more when you can get it on autoship from Walmart, Chewy, etc. and save money, or try the new one i found at Walmart and Chewy also carries it online. I'm not naming the competitor, but it's right on the same shelf
