I won't detail much of what everyone else has stated other than this is truly a transformative experience as you invest in a new healthy lifestyle. The trainers are not only motivating they really want to help you succeed and make you comfortable in the gym. Here are some general observations that I noted that may help you in your decision to come here. I am self employed so the challenge was to figure out how many weeks I could go, I think you need at minimum 2 weeks and preferable 3 weeks or more to really acclimate to the change in diet and work out. I was able to run my business with minimal interruptions and attend 90% of the classes and workouts for the 2 weeks I was there. You do have the option of staying in a room solo (more expensive) or having an assigned room mate. I recommend staying alone as at the end of the day its great to have some quiet solitude and relax. Typical day begins at about 6:30 am for a power shake followed by one class then breakfast, two more workouts then lunch. The afternoon will consist of two to three more workouts then a 5pm dinner. I am a late to bed person (midnight or 1am), I quickly learned that you are in your room by 6pm and asleep by 9pm. You will be exhausted and the first few days you will extremely sore as you are working out muscles that you knew you never had. The schedule can vary as the staff does an excellent job getting you out of the resort and working out in different clubs in the Carlsbad area, going for a 3 hour hike, biking along the Mission Bay boardwalk, or beach body workouts overlooking the Pacific. The scenery and being outdoors is inspiring! Your day is filled with activity from 7am to 6pm daily so plan accordingly. In addition if you have a previous injury or cannot perform certain workouts the staff really go out of their way to provide options that prevent further injury so you can remain active in class. Weekends are different: your day start later at 8am and end about Noon for lunch. Dinner on Saturday as well as all three meals on Sunday are provided in the clubhouse but there are no fitness classes as you can spend this time doing as much or little as you like. In addition to the cardio and weights the staff take time to educate you on how to make these changes to your lifestyle via lunch and learn seminars and discussions; these can range from the psychology of how your emotions are tied to your fitness and weight loss success, how to develop a impactful training program you can take home with you, cooking demos, to taking a shopping trip and learning how to shop and read labels so you are purchasing quality healthy food. Food: you are limited to about 1500 calories per day for a man and about 1300 for a women. The food is good in general and more bland than what I typically eat at home. Your breakfast may consist of scrambled eggs with a side of quinoa, lunch is typically a salad with a protein (lean chicken or fish), dinner is steamed veggies with a chicken or fish. On occasion we had turkey meatloaf or a small filet mignon as well. The dressings are delicious and you are provided with recipes to take home. In addition you are provided two healthy snacks through out the day. Keep in mind the following s well: there are no carbonated beverages (they are frowned upon), no caffeine after 10am and no alcohol. I enjoy all three so this was a bigger adjustment for me. In addition there is minimal to no sugar, white flour or partially hydrogenated oils. I thought that this would prove to be restricting but was wrong as I was able to adapt to theses changes easier than I thought. Every Thursday is a dine out night when you are provided a menu to help you pre-order your food and learn to adapt and modify your dining options so you can stay healthy while traveling or out on business meals. Environment: La Costa is a lovely resort with spacious grounds and well appointed rooms. PFC has a separate dining area/club house near the tennis courts. This clubhouse is where you eat, have seminars and generally socialize with other guests. As a PFC member you receive discounts to the spa, the shops and private laundry service. I thought having multiple dining and drinking establishments would be an issue but since your days are so filled with activity and you are paying a lot of time and money to invest in yourself I did not find the temptation great. In addition your rooms are near the clubhouse so you really never walk through the area where all these are located. PFC also provides plenty of fresh water, electrolytes, epsom salt and non caffeinated beverage throughout the day. You are also provide with a Fitbit and a Polar Heart Monitor to wear each day. Fellow attendees: I found that you really begin to bond with people as we were a smaller group of 20 people. Every Saturday you say good bye to a few people and welcome new attendees on Sunday. The age range is 18-65 and each persons health goals are different. Some attendees have been at the camp for 10 plus weeks with major weight loss and fitness progress, others are here for 2-4 weeks for a tune up or just a good push to restart a fitness program. There is a ton of encouragement from your peers as everyone has a bad day or workout and everyone rallies to support each other. Milestones: you are weighed and measured when you arrive as well as have blood work and blood pressure taken. You are also timed for a mile run/walk, a 1.5 mile hike, sit ups and planks. Each Monday you are weighed and then timed for your fitness progress and every second Monday you have your blood drawn. What really impressed me is how the staff and program was easily incorporated into my lifestyle. You walk away with a road map and support to continue your success. In two weeks, I left 12 pounds lighter, 5.5 inches less in measurement, 3% loss in body fat, 25% drop in my cholesterol and glucose levels. More importantly I have confidence to do this at home and two weeks later have lost an additional 9 pounds. Yes the program is expensive but as you can see from previous reviews it really works.

PFC was a life changing and possibly life saving experience for me. Since leaving camp I have continued to follow the program and have lost 40lbs. I have also lowered my blood pressure, my chloresterol and blood sugars! Deb V

Went to camp a couple of years ago to support our son. What a great experience. Great and concerned staff, nice variety in the workouts, and more importantly results. All the positives in the blood work were up and the negatives down. Increase in muscle mass and decrease in weight. Couldn't ask for more.

My husband and I have returned every year for one week for a number of years. The food is fantastic, enthusiasm of the coaches is excellent, and it’s a really positive and nurturing environment for those trying to change their lives and learn how to live better.
