Pickup MusicReviews of pickupmusic.com

I am a member since the beginning. I've soon recognized it was different from other lessons and courses online and I really improved my knowledge of theory and practice. A lot of videos and pdf material.I really think it's unbeatable.

With Pickup Music, I feel like I’m learning so much and their structured lessons are exactly what I need. I can’t recommend this site enough if you’re an intermediate guitarist.

Pickup Music is incredible!! I would highly recommend it to anybody who is trying to learn guitar without a teacher. I have been playing for a while and recently got back into it and wanted to learn more about Jazz specifically. I was thinking about subscribing for a while, but I wasn't sure about how committed I would be once I got on it. The way that it is set up makes it so fun to even learn traditionally 'less exciting' topics like modes. Already just by doing a couple of the more basic classes I have learnt so much. I haven't tried the other subscription services out there, but I can say for sure that Pickup Music has everything you could possibly want/need. Theory classes, technique classes and challenges (like the Songsquad content and Essential Licks packages). The team is also super responsive, providing personalised feedback in office hours as well as in response to videos that you can send them. On top of that, any questions you have in the comments section are answered within a day or two!

I'm an old funky blues/rocker stuck in the pentatonic/mixolydian/dorian modes with all the usual chops since the 70s. I retired from work determined to make the transition to jazz. I've tried other tuition sites and books, and I've managed some of it by ear, but the step-by-step way Cecil Alexander has shown me exactly what I need to make the transition and to understand what I'm doing has been a revelation. Understanding a musical genre means you can actually improvise rather than just copy standard chops. I'm already making stuff up - so far it's not great, but it's mine! Only people who know this stuff very well can explain it clearly and in a relaxed way. They're quite rare, but he's one of them. I'll be sticking around to the bitter end here.

I have really enjoyed my experience with pickup music and will continue to do so! The content within the site are so good and I’m learning things I would’ve not otherwise learnt. The founders and the people working at pickup music really care about your experience, for example; they have different recitals where we get together in zoom and show of our progress, a great chance to connect to likeminded individuals also. I would 100% recommend pickup music!

After struggling with YouTube, paid courses and all the different websites with scattered info here and there, I finally found my all-in-one guitar site ! Signing up for a membership in Pickup Music was the best thing I did for my music journey.. I recommend it to anyone who wants to really improve their technique, feel, soloing and theory knowledge.

Pickup music is an absolutely incredible tool for a guitar player of an level to learn new skills. Before Pickup music, I was stuck in the slog of practicing the same scales and finger exercises. I was overwhelmed by what to do next. Their site really helped give my practice focus and took my playing to the next level.

This is one of the best, if not THE best online guitar learning resource available right now (in my opinion). There are a ton of lessons in a wide variety of playing styles, they are all top notch and structured very nicely. I've been playing for over a decade and I really wish this was available when I first started out. I have always struggled to expand my playing vocabulary and have always side stepped on theory. But on pickup music, all the daunting theory is explained in a very friendly way and genuinely encourages you to try your best. I always get excited when new classes are released and always look forward to them, not to mention they have some of the biggest modern guitar players today teaching you their secrets. This alone is worth the full admission. And if Sam is reading this, thank you for making this platform and community a reality. I'm so glad someone finally took online guitar lessons to a whole new level. I can't wait to see how this site evolves over the years. I'm a much better guitar player because of this site!
