Such a good platform for encouraging the joy of learning and constructing YOUR musical zone - it’s been many years that I’ve been guitar-noodling, never making my vision and my reality combine to my satisfaction - and eventually I gave in to the regular Pickup Music ‘calls to action’ that came my way after I showed interest in something of theirs that I saw (on Facebook! So now you know how ancient I must be!). Anyway, it does take work, focus, practice, discipline, but the kind that is rewarding, not frustrating; when you’re ready to transfer the energy from your habitual disappointment in wasted hours, into relief at having something to show for your efforts after some structured, slightly challenging but fun sessions right from day one, you may begin to look forward to picking up that six-string song-plank and making friends with it again. You can count on candid but supportive feedback by a fine team of educators/muso’s… you’re not ‘noodling randomly YouTube lessons’ - you’re a grown-up back at school - cool school! This course is a fabulous experience. It is like having private piano lessons that you can take any time day or night. Such a fun way to learn. Step by step, note by note the lessons are clear and engaging. I signed up for a year and so glad I did. This is a course I really look forward to. You can tell that the people who put this course together remember what it was like trying to learn. They engage with you along the way and are always available for help if you need it. But not intrusive and not demanding. This course can be taken as quickly or slowly as you enjoy. Absolutely one of the best courses for piano.

I am taking the beginner bass course with Corbin, but there are also other awesome instructors, classes, and mini-lessons. I am an intermediate player, who simply wanted to gain a better and deeper understanding, and who does not like any time-constraints, or pressure. I am finishing the units at my own pace, often repeating some of the ones I already finished, and I am enjoying every moment. I highly recommend.

I'm very Happy with Pickup Music. I get to peek in and see what is happening with other musicians and look close at their approach playing, I learn by hearing and watching an performer and then it clicks and I see why things are done in a given situation!

This is the best online guitar program I’ve used. It’s better than Guitar Tricks for me because it is a bit more structured and linear and the feedback is far better. It still has some quirks I don’t like, random classical music pieces for one. Plus, all the songs are either knock offs or their own composition.

I started about 15 months ago, and after completing another online course I lost direction a bit with 'where to go next'. I came across Pick up music and gave it a go, and it has been absolutely excellent. I have been using it for about 6 months now, and it definitely has helped me get on a track to learning new things in a structured way, and although I tend to dip in and out of it now as I need, it was invaluable for getting me over that 'post beginner hump' with the intermediate course, and make sure I stepped up to moving on from the basics without it feeling overwhelming. I don't often recommend things like this, but I feel this is exceptionally well done, and the fact you also get guitar etc. courses as well is excellent value.

Been with Pickup Music now for 2.5 years - can honestly say joining them was the best decision I made. Before joining, I was an OK intermediate guitarist - I could learn songs & solos and replicate them to a decent standard, but just couldn't seem to progress from there. I'd hit the dreaded intermediate ceiling.. Being self-taught, I understood lots of fragments of knowledge, learnt from books and Youtube vids over the years, but struggled to join all the dots, to see the whole picture. I was able to bluff my way through a solo, but I didn't really know what I was doing or why. So the big thing for me with Pickup is the clear, structured approach to learning. The courses are modular, presenting concepts in easy to digest 'daily' lessons that build up over time, so that you end up finally seeing that big picture. Learning in small, regular chunks seems to help embed it permanently in my memory too, especially with the clear graphics and backing tracks they use. It's been a revelation. Even concepts I thought I knew well, I've taken the courses thinking it would just be a revision exercise & realised that there were crucial gaps in my knowledge that had been stunting my progress. There is a strong, supportive community of other musicians if you want to get involved (but you don't have to). The instructors are all active on the site, readily available for contact & I have found the one-to-one feedback particularly useful. New lessons are constantly being added & updated and they've even added piano & bass lessons now too - all included in the basic subscription. On subscription, I had never paid for one before - my attitude was why pay anything, when there's so much free stuff on the net..? I did the two week free trial and realised what an incredible resource I was getting for for less than the price of a cup of coffee per week. My advice to anyone wondering if it's worth it - just do the trial & see for yourself. For me, it's been a game-changer.
