Pickup MusicReviews of pickupmusic.com

The intermediate pathway on Pickup Music has been a good way to brush up on skills that are a little taken for granted. Parts seemed a little on the easy side, but it has been a great review along with nicely set up performance pieces and backing tracks.

really great lessons! It's very clearly mapped out so you can get fast improvement. Only downside is I've submitted several videos for feedback and have not received any feedback yet. Other than that, I really enjoy learning with Pickup music and would recommend, especially if you're just starting out.

I really like this interactive and step-wise/day-to-day approach to a system that seemed daunting at first. I've been trying to get all these things like the major scale, the pentatonics and triads into my head over the last couple years and now I finally understand how it relates to each other and it all makes much more sense! Knowing I improved a lot in such a short time gives me a really good feeling :) I really enjoy jamming along to the backing tracks as well!

I am taking CAGED I and NeoSoul pathways. They challenge me when they needed to. The exercises are appropriate with the level you were at. Nothing "over your head" so to speak. It also feels supportive due to the feedback portion of the pathways. The instructors know how to talk to you and point you in the right direction with any corrections they give. They first point out what you are doing well and help apply those skills toward making your performance better. Reassurance goes a long way when learning something new. It's always a great experience when people know how to talk to you. I just would like the website to load faster. It's laid out great! But slow to load. Have tried it on different browsers and even on fast networks. Ones with a gig of bandwidth.

Pickup music is a great program. The pathways give you a structured format to learn whatever interests you. Like anything you will get out of it what you put into it. I have realized that it might be better for me to cherry pick the sections that interest me as opposed to getting bogged down in areas that are less interesting.

Follow your path I love the fact that there are different paths to follow. I started as a beginner. When I got stuck at bar cords, there was an in depth course just about bar cords. This course has propelled me up. Can't wait to jump back in to beginners and follow my path to neo soul guitarist.

The genres covered are relevant and inspring to me. I find other learning platforms quite narrow. I like with Pickup Music I can take a deep dive into chord melody (daunting) and also, say, side step into country licks if I feel like it. Pickup Music's learning pathways are intuitively set out and easy to dip in and out of. I really like the instructors. Clearly all talented musicians but also great educators. I have been surpised to see artists I know with their own course on the platform. The style and tone of Pickup Music is classy and tasteful. Great video production values and I find the UI intuitive.

So I chose to try pick up music as a supplement to my private teaching, and/or as another option. I’m a very “hands on” person and I don’t like recommending things I haven’t tried. I was very pleased with the country course and look forward to trying the other courses. I am very happy to see that the music is given in tabs as well as written notation. Some of the videos/notation can be off sometimes, but the Pickup staff are very attentive when you leave a comment pointing out discrepancies. The “feedback” portion is also very helpful. I’ve been using the service off and on for about 2-3 months and have enjoyed it immensely.
