I did enjoy the CAGED learning pathway very much. It was very informative. The instructors knew when to take things slow and when to ask a little more from their students. Always kept things interesting, although very straightforward with the material. I would have liked to see some more use of the CAGED system with practice over basic/standard chord progressions to build a better base before trying to solo on things like the EM7,CM7. Really being able to hear the differences of the scales of four or five chord progressions. The applications of what we were learning were great! I just felt like it lost site sometimes of its practicality.

Pickup music is literally the best thing I have ever found to help advance my guitar playing. I played off and on for nearly 10 years learning riffs and jamming but not really understanding anything. Pickup music has solved all of that! These are the best, most detailed courses. I can't wait to jump into my next one!

I am pleasantly surprised with this course. The course is focused to achieve great mastery on rhythm and playing clean.

I love the single string workouts, fret board memorization, and the live band backing track. I have tried most of the other sites and even thou they are good they didn't offer a late beginner course. I am using Late Beginner as a refresher before intermediate, and taking the caged pathway to advance my fretboard knowledge.

Look this is actually a fun and engaging way to become a better guitar player. But you have to put in the work. All the information you need is here and the lessons build on each other in ways that make sense. If you practice, follow the pathways (don't jump around) you will be surprised with your progress.

I've been playing guitar for 20 year, and I believe I have come very far technically. However, I have always been neglecting music theory and just wanted to play fast. But now, after just a couple of weeks of following some of the learning pathways this site has to offer, I am already a much more complete guitarist, and I am even starting to feel like a true musician. Even though I am an advanced guitarist and can learn a performance piece really well, the professionals who give feedback on the performances still has a lot of great advice to offer. They have helped me fine tune some technical aspects of my playing and made suggestions for improving as a musician. Starting on this platform is the best thing I ever did for my guitar playing.

I'm working through the CAGED and Late Beginner series of lessons, which are perfect for my level of playing. Molly Miller is enthusiastic about music theory, which makes learning this system fun. I did not encounter the CAGED system in other lessons, although I had heard of it. The breakdown of the lessons is perfect; I can do as much or as little as I have time for, and still make progress. I"ve only completed one day in the Late Beginner, so too early to say much except that Karl makes it fun. Although Sam and the Pickup Music team do as much as possible to keep me on track, it is ultimately up to the student to put in the time, practice, and stick with completing the lessons. I like the incentives of completing a grade in a course; winning a new guitar is always a bonus!

I am working on the Intermediate Learning Pathway , and I couldn't be happier with my experience! This pathway is exceptionally well-structured, guiding players through a series of lessons that are both challenging and rewarding. What stands out the most is the gradual progression of difficulty. Each day of each grade builds on the previous one, ensuring a smooth transition from basic skills to more advanced techniques. It also allows the player to see how more complex melodic and harmonic concepts have roots in more basic concepts. I particularly appreciated the focus on practical applications—learning riffs that I could immediately incorporate into my playing. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and break down the concepts in a way that’s easy to understand. The video lessons are high quality, with multiple camera angles, which made it easy to follow along and see exactly what the instructors are doing.
